When I was young - there were four things you could count on being in the boat (fishing) or vehicle (hunting) - potted meat, Vienna sausages, saltine crackers, and a warm bottle of Coke. I honestly can't EVER remember us carrying a cooler or anything cold for either outing. We'd dog drive in the morning, come out for lunch (see previous), and stalk hunt in the afternoons or fish all-day and you could eat when you wanted.

We'd hunt or fish from daybreak till sunset - to be honest sometimes (actually many times) it was absolute torture. On one occasion, I ended up at the emergency room dehydrated from a day of fishing on Toledo Bend with my Dad, Grandpa, and Uncle - it scared the crap out of my Dad when I passed out in the boat (he still tells the story to this day).

Now - I never eat in the stand, the only thing I carry is a couple of bottles of water. I've gotten weak and lazy - in the woods before sunrise - out by 11:00, eat lunch (NOT potted meat or Vienna sausages and absolutely an ice old Diet Coke) take a nap, back in the stand around 2:30 and hunt till dark.
