So I guess we know where all the missing deer have gone.

How often do you have to dispatch a deer while tracking?

Very few during bow season but during gun season probably every third or fourth recovery has to be dispatched……Its usually leg shots or low gut shots

That would leave both hands free to deal with the dog, and you can pull it quickly if you need to shoot. Brace against a tree and shouldn't have any problem making a proper shot on a bayed deer.

That's what I would carry as a tracker, even if a rifle were legal. Just a suggestion

Thanks I'll check it out.......Here's my current setup......I wear it like a backpack......Works great

That looks good! I don't blame you for using it as long as you can, but there are alternatives with handgun types already mentioned that will work about as well. But if forced to change, it will just be another worthless government regulation that accomplishes nothing except make it harder for someone to do their job.

I know one of these was after 2 different dogs had told them the deer was very alive and well... And I know many others stories like it as well.
