Noone is catching deer that are gonna live. Usually the deer jumps up, smokes the dogs and they can't track it much more in that situation. Run into that alot with light brisket hits and hard grazes That’s good to know… seen deer dogs bay many of unshot deer..

My dogs won't even pay attention to other deer when we're tracking. I've had fawns run up to us at night and the dogs walk right by them. Especially in high fence situations. What someone does with a group of hounds running deer isn't any of my business and not even close to the samething

So you see no problem with a deer that has been shot, and will survive with a little rest and time. … Here's one from Bibb Co.......A little rest and time and he should be fine..... https://www.facebook.com/david.jone...eWGdrDhTh6bpck1Ul?rdid=SsqHZpcXYaVgd4Mi#

I’ve videoed my coon hounds running all around deer bedded at night and neither bothered to be worried about the other..

I say who cares dispatch a wounded deer however u can cause most cases what gets bayed up would be a badly wounded deer that needs to be put down. I’ve seen one killed a day later that had a massive gut hole chasing a doe that was shot and was already developing infection and it looked terrible. No way I would want a deer or anything else to live like that. It would eventually die or probably go down to skin and bones. If u have to go on another property most wouldn’t care with a call to let them know. Dog or drone if it’s not bad they will just keep trucking and live to fight another day.

This post reminds me of the trapping post. Abunch of damn crybaby pansies. Y'all remind me of abunch of the cops and game wardens I've tracked for. Its probably alright to bend the rules for y'all some but not your neighbors in the right situation. It would be ok to bay that leg shot 160 plus inch deer for y'all but not somebody else. The one coyotes are gonna eat. You know the one we caught a few hundred yards from his last bed. I've only had one man in all these years that has told me to let him go. We couldn't get close enough for him to finish it with his bow on a bow only club. I fully respected that. The deer was never seen again and im sure coyotes ate him. At the same time we've called hundreds of tracks off because of property lines. Y'all call it what you want. At the end of the day I meet some great folks, have made alot of friends and some damn good memories. Tracked two for some kids Wednesday. Had a blast doing it and what y'all think about it doesn't even matter so go pound sand. Ridge life is definitely one of the good ones. Four rapid fire posts in a row trying to reassure yourself.....nice. You must have taken lessons from CNC. As far as the topic goes, the Alabama Deer Trackers Association has been addressing the issue as well on social media. They are calling out their own. It's not that there's just a bunch of anti-trackers that are crying about it. There's a problem and trackers themselves are acknowledging it and calling on people involved to "do better". So, you can get on here, thump your chest, call names and scream from the hill you want to die on or you can offer suggestions as to fix the problems. My wife shares my FB for a reason. Anyways she really doesn’t like seeing deer being bayed up, especially at night with a light and firearm. I try to explain it to her but the damage is done. She reduces critters but knows there’s a difference between pets and game animals. Still it doesn’t look good at all. Even the pics of yotes in traps cowering. They remind her of dogs. Those upset housewives get things done for if and when they gang up.

Yes they do but folks don't want to hear it when you try to tell them, just get mad at you.

Yep......there's no difference whether its in a fence or outside......It can actually be harder on a dog inside of many high fences because there's so much concentrated deer scent.....I went inside of an 80 acre high fence one time and there was so many deer standing around and so much ground disturbance that it was just overwhelming

Harold is correct. I'm very familiar with 4 or 5 in south central Bama. One is 1800, one is 2350, another is 2800, and the third is 3200. All have tremendous cover, terrain and timber diversity, and all may as well be free range, as big as they are. It's not my thing as far as hunting in them, but I've helped shoot does and culls on all 4 in the past when they needed an additional gun they could trust. I honestly dont know, nor have I heard of anyone, that has one smaller than a section (640 acres). The results and what you'd end up with, from a hunting perspective, are just not worth the investment and time, for less acreage than that.

…..I just wish they would leave the part out about having to do it with a handgun…..I cant hit chit with one…… In all seriousness……I really do wish they would leave this part out…^^^^^ ..Its not needed and doesn’t really serve any purpose. Whether I have a .45 in my hand or my 30-30 on my back it doesn’t change anything about what I’m doing other than my accuracy and efficiency of putting the animal down……It’s the same maimed up deer standing 30-40 yards away in a creek and me either rounding off multiple shots from a .45 likely having to run 100 yards and do it again because deer can tote a .45 round…….or firing one shot from a 30-30 and it being done……When you actually get out there in the field doing these things some of this stuff folks come up with doesn’t make functional sense……like why I am sitting here slinging pistol rounds at this deer?? If they pass this and you gotta use a handgun, get you a 10" Contender in 30 Herrett or something similar. A deer ain't walking away from a proper hit with that gun, and it's light enough to not be a burden to carry. For trailing with a dog, the most efficient way to carry it would be a shoulder holster. That would leave both hands free to deal with the dog, and you can pull it quickly if you need to shoot. Brace against a tree and shouldn't have any problem making a proper shot on a bayed deer. That's what I would carry as a tracker, even if a rifle were legal. Just a suggestion

They go to pistol only get a 300bo and buy some shooting shirts with the pad made in and shoot the pistol like rifle. Add a red dot and a good light I can't find a law against it

Just get a 300bo ar pistol with a red dot. That would be a pretty good loophole for the pistol regulation.
