I ain't seen any evidence of deer dyeing. Hell, I'm not seen much evidence of them living either. lol Been slow so far.

There’s food galore right now u could tell when others started feeding right before bow season and acorns cause I feed year round and it suddenly fell off with numbers and u could see it. Deer have many feeders and natural food now so 1 day it’s crazy then a week or 2 of nothing then repeat. Throw the rut in and all bets are off and can see them anywhere. After 5 months of hunting u will see them pile in where being fed after season. I start end of the month feeding mostly protein to help all of them recover or should I say try to hopefully that’s what they need then. Bama and the south in general are some of the most pressured anywhere because of our length of season which is another issue in some areas of the state.

No way!!! Some on here believe that no matter how many deer you shoot over that corn pile on that 2 acres, new deer will keep showing up day after day until every deer in at county are dead. I would like to hunt dumb deer like that just one time in my life before I get old and can’t hunt no more.
But now I’m going to be serious. I have several buddies that hunt Texas. I talked to the ones we go to Sonora with and another that hunts in Comfort. They both said that there is so much food up there because of all the rains over the summer, the deer aren’t using the feeders very much. Deer will choose natural food over corn anytime anywhere.

Get in the hardwoods.

Pro tip that I know several guys have successfully used this year... instead of just hanging cameras at feeders, walk your woods and put your cameras on community scrapes. In one area that I hunt, I've got three 4 YO bucks (or older) that's hitting a scrape. None of them have been caught on my feeder which is 600 yards away during the entire late summer/fall.

Bingo. People don’t want to admit they’ve become lazy and don’t actually like to hunt. They like the convenience of sitting over something predictable. I’m pointing fingers at myself too, so yall don’t get too riled up. It is just the truth. I did a little walk about this morning and found multiple species of red and white oaks still holding acorns in the canopy, with acorns all over the ground. Rubs everywhere. Scrapes everywhere. Deer tracks and droppings everywhere. You know what? My cameras are still showing 1/4 of the activity they typically show right now. I’ve had rare days where a lot of deer would show up, but for the most part, they’re not.

I’d see it at Martin in cutovers when acorns were gone. Lots and lots of honeysuckle. They’d lay up in and stand to eat for a while move a little easy or the next patch and lay back down. I’d hunt where I could see up to 800 yards away, across drains and sometimes several drains that converged. Could see deer in all directions repeating the same things with occasional ones traveling thru. Those were usually younger bucks out looking.

Matt, Like you mentioned. No one really hunts any longer. They build it and hope the deer come instead of going a finding deer. They lover around thruout the season unless food resources are low and they have to come to certain food sources.

I don’t watch hunting shows but last night while reloading I flipped over and watched the crush. Wow at the deer numbers yet look at the food they had in the plots. Considering what wa alert to eat in the wild and the cold weather deer had to be there and eat.
Many THINK that’s is what it should look like.

Yall need to stop!! Let them be lazy and think there’s no more deer. Leaves more room for me.

For the last several years, I will run my feeders 30 sec in the morning and 30 sec in the evening and you could stop by one on your drive out and not find a kernel of corn. This year I’m running 5 sec in the morning and 15 sec in the afternoon to not leave corn for the coons. We have not had a die of in Bibb. Just too much food. Now in 2007 and 2008 we definitely had a die off.

Bibb Co has checked in the 3rd most deer of any county so far

I got a metal roof on my house with 2 big redoaks that keep me updated on acorns. Soon as they started falling the feeder activity started slowing down. One tree in my yard has to have dumped a thousand pounds of acorns so far and still a few falling. You cant hardly walk under it without rolling on them.

I did get a coyote yesterday from one of my fields and saw a spike after I shot the yote. Getting some good pics but mainly at night.
