It’s become obvious, due to his abnormal lack of posts in the tracking thread (which I enjoy following) that he’s not getting squat for tracking calls this year so he’s managed to convince himself that the only reason that could be happening is because all the deer statewide are close to the point of extinction. It couldn’t possibly be that everyone has tracking dogs now and the normal number of calls are now getting divided up among a much larger number of trackers. Nothing but self serving comments back and forth with himself, gaslighting, and bias confirmation that gets worse each week. Ignoring salient facts about the bad data he’s using to support his theory, ignoring dozens of people throughout the state telling him what they are personally seeing that contradicts his beliefs, because it goes against his personal bias. I’m honestly getting concerned that he’s become so obsessed with his theory that it’s affecting him mentally. Alfa, deep farm, out of state hunters, too many in state hunters, too many people buying land, real estate agents pushing agendas, roads blocking deer travel, coyotes, property fragmentation, urban sprawl, and the best of all….everyone on here that is saying that they don’t have deer number issues, have all gotten together in a grand conspiracy to undermine his theory. Love you CNC but these latest shots at Matt and others have gone a bit too far. Slow your roll just a bit. Game animals and game numbers go through cycles. Always have, always will, it’s nature. Some years are great, some are bad. This bountiful food year and current slow year harvest wise, will lead to the state carrying a bunch more deer into next year and 2-3 years from now, we will be seeing big harvest numbers. The state definitely does a ton of stupid stuff with regard to deer management and they could 100% do a much better job to enhance and promote quality hunting that enables individuals to be able to attain their personal management and harvest goals, but the state of Alabama is in no way about to run out of deer. Never forget that deer are an incredibly adaptive and resilient species.
