Yeah if I’m finding multiple dead deer on my property I’m telling everyone that’ll listen.
I’ll say this, it is possible that there’s disease certainly in areas where you’ll see 20-30 on a field at a time.
My property isn’t like that (20-30 deer in one field). Too many people helping me out with thinning the herd. I have a buddy from Greensboro that has deer like that, he sends me pics with 20+ deer in the field at a time. I could see them spreading something being that congregated, but I saw 9 yesterday morning and zero were at my feeder camera. Set up a camera on a scrape and see what’s there is what id do. Hopefully you’ll see some deer. It’s been a dif but good year for us so far. Lots of deer.

Here’s another observation of the odd year we’re having.
Coon and hog sightings are down at my feeders (in areas). I think they’re on acorns too, imo. Feeders where last year there was 10-12 coons, and hogs I’m getting maybe a couple of coons and the hogs haven’t even shown up yet. I don’t think it’s a coincidence.

If all the corn and camera hunters will be patient stay at home now and spend their time this season watching a corn pile the last 2-3 weeks of season , there will be a die off.

Same here in North Limestone County. Worst year ever for deer sightings during season. Before season it was normal traffic on camera.

This is what I’m doing. I’m not going back till mid January. With the temps we’re having, I’m getting the boat ready to go make a few catfish trips to restock the freezer till spring. I don’t want to get burnt out on hunting before the rut starts.

It’s funny that I had a camera on a field that has received zero pressure beside me shooting some dove off it a few weeks ago. Very few deer on camera and no acorns trees around it. Moved a new camera on the field directly 80yards to the other side. First two days I’ve gotten 4 different bucks and numerous does

Cameras don’t always tell what’s happening so it’s still a very foul able resource.

I was down in the lower elevation yesterday, in the scrub oaks and Limestones on the South face on my property. Southern Red Oak acorns were everywhere ! I cut several open and all were good. Those late falling Red Oaks will be good almost to green up in March. Deer don't have to move at all . Other than bucks traveling during the rut or forced movement , as a whole , they just aren't going far at all.

Do not rely on cameras. Can’t repeat that enough. What my eyes see and what my cameras see tell a completely different story often.

Hunted my place yesterday afternoon and did not see a single deer. I trust what Matt is saying. He knows way more that I ever will about habitat, food, and deer. It just sucks seeing no deer.
