I think most of these stories are for public perception more than anything to try and make people think we have an overpopulation issue….It’s funny how you hear the same folks talking about how they need to shoot does badly but for some reason never seem to shoot them…...If there was really an issue they would be posting pics of dead deer getting piled up instead of stories about how bad it is…. We don’t advertise our place by posting a bunch of pictures of the deer we kill. That’s how you lose your place to someone offering more money. Every decision we make at our place is made as a group. We decided just because we are seeing so many more deer this year doesn’t mean we need to shoot more. If this starts to be a trend over a couple years, we will maybe shoot more does. We like seeing deer and I personally don’t think we’re overpopulated. I think a lot of the deer in our area is on or around our place because we have so many acorns. I don’t care what the public thinks, a question or concern was brought up and I explained the situation we are having. If that don’t fit your “sky is falling” narrative, well I can’t help that. You need to talk to the people in your area where the problem is. No shortage of bucks or does in our area. There I said it again.

How does the rules and regs read for the farmers with kill permits? Are those deer being figured into your charts and graphs? Yes…….when farmers or “outlaws” kill deer it effects the number that can potentially be killed by your everyday law-abiding hunter who game checks their kills…..…..Sort of like if you had someone sneaking into your pond keeping a bunch of fish without you knowing it…..That would show through your decrease in success when you go

Do farmers get a certain amount of kills with their permits?
Do they have to call their kills in?
Doesn’t count towards their limit when they kill a buck in the summer off their permit?

I’m of the opinion other states care 💯 about the wildlife and Alabama cares about $$$. I agree......You cant believe anything you read on social media about it anymore…..Too many special interests with their hand in the cookie jar effecting things……Its either farmer’s and insurance that perpetually want everyone to believe we have too many deer or its real estate guys that want you to believe every parcel is “prime hunting”……I’m not sure there’s anyone involved that’s actually looking at what’s really occurring……Everyone is too busy trying to manipulate perceptions

I joined aldeer in 2003 to argue against buck limits, believing they would open the door to a whole lot more state control of every aspect of hunting without helping the resource at all. It took several years, but the 3 buck limit finally passed. When it did pass, we were killing more does than bucks voluntarily. It didn't require a regulation; people were just convinced it was in their best interest to do so. Now because of the government regulations we are back to killing more bucks than does, but we are only killing half as many deer. I don't see how the hunters or the deer are in any way better off now than they were in 2003, but as I predicted, those pushing buck limits will never be satisfied. In their minds, the problem is that the current buck limit just doesn't go far enough. We just need to reduce it from 3 to 2. Then it will be 2 to 1. Then it will be nobody "needs" to kill a buck every year. So my answer is no.  The wise one has spoken.

That’s not a good business model. It’s also extremely dishonest. I could sell ppl dirt cheap every day and lie to them about how great it is, but that don’t help me or them. Actually I think you’re probably a pretty honest guy who is in a position of having to walk a line for their employer……I think its why you are so reluctant to admit anywhere in the state is having issues…..You don’t want to rock the boat with those other people selling land in different parts of the state……

Because people don’t invest hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars on buying chitty hunting land in areas that are getting shot to chit…….You need the perception to be that everything is great all the time to drive sales…..Do I really have to explain it??

What we are witnessing is a grown man acting like he’s got his head stuck so far up his ass he can see what he had for breakfast this morning. If you go back in every one of your “ALL THE DEER IN ALABAMA HAVE BEEN KILLED” threads you will see that Matt has agreed in every one of the that there are areas that do have low population issues. He also stated more times than I care to count that there are also areas that are still overpopulated. It’s no one’s else’s fault you have poor comprehension skills and rather accuse someone of having an agenda because they have a job to do. I’m not sure what your occupation is but if you work for someone, you kinda have to do want they want. Matt provides a service to people just like you do when you track. But I don’t need to defend Matt to you. You won’t understand any of it anyway.
