Not many seeing deer on cameras or in person. One has 29 fields and baits heavily. Some are speculating there was a die off this year. Definitely not many (rare to see any now) on the side of the roads at night like there was earlier .

What do you think is the cause of this "die off?"

Wouldn't know. All I know is there are very very few seen since summer. Not just on our place but in many spots around the county. Been that way since before season came in

I can promise you if I see a freezer queen this afternoon there's gonna be one die. Had the safety off my old BAR Wednesday evening on one and my phone started ringing. It was the police department calling because my alarm at work was going off. slap

The problem is that people are upset if they see deer “too many deer and GOT to shoot more does” and then they’re unhappy when they don’t see any. It’s quite the mindset.

Seeing deer is fun. beers

All year my bucks have died off or have been abducted by an experimental military aircraft perhaps. Waiting on rut to hope that my normal load of does can pull some in. Big shortage of horns (of any size) this year compared to previous years. I'm not meat hunting so that means I've been staying in the yard piddling. On the bright side, I still get near daily pics of 'Betty' the turkey hen. She is the first bird in my entire adulthood to call our family land home.

Worst year for deer that I can remember, 40+ years on the same property. Everyone I talk to isn’t seeing deer. My processor is way down too. Says “I thought people were mad at me” I don’t buy the acorn thing this late in the year, unless it’s caused travel route changes? Who knows.

We have plenty on all three of our places in henry county. A die off may be good in the long run.

Where is it that the deer have disappeared? Maybe they all relocated to south Montgomery county. Sat on the powerline that crosses backside of my home property one afternoon this week. I'm sitting on a 2 acre greenfield and can see my neighbors field about half a mile down the line. Saw 40+ and that was an average afternoon. I have cameras on 4 feeders on leased property close by and deer are swarming all of those feeders daily

Being this substantial I would think that if it were a true die off from something like EHD that folks would have noticed it when it was happening....LOTS of dead deer would have been found and you would have heard about it.....The reality is likely that they are in someone's freezer

Not many left on our club due to killing too many.

Overrun with them on my own property which is not more than a mile away.

The reasons are obvious

I hunt Tuscaloosa, Pickens, and Fayette counties. Worst season I can remember in my lifetime for deer sightings. It has been real bad on every place I hunt. Everyone keeps saying its because of the acorns. I could lean toward a die off idea as well.
