I’m surprised someone from Mississippi hasn’t chimed in. I was told by a customer of mine that hunts some in Mississippi. If a dog finds or bays a deer that is alive, you cannot shoot or kill the deer for 24 hours. Sounds crazy but that’s what he said. He also said that if caught killing the animal immediately, before 24 hours, he or she will loose there hunting rights for either one or three years. This may not be true, but this is how he explained it to me. If it is true, doesn’t make sense to have to wait for 24 hours to put the deer out of it’s misery.
I don’t think that’s correct……Mississippi actually allows for deer to be legally tracked and dispatched at night……I think you’ll see Alabama follow suite before long…..I just wish they would leave the part out about having to do it with a handgun…..I cant hit chit with one……
