I want a thermal drone, for my own use, deer surveys, education, entertainment and such. The only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet is because the Feds are trying to ban DJI drones. I think come Dec 23rd they will be automatically banned. At least any new drone that DJI were to come out with. You can still purchase the drones that are already approved by the FCC but they are getting scarce and are at ridiculous prices. People have been having trouble even getting those through the ports and sometimes are being held for months. Things eventually tear up; batteries and propellers go bad and once the current stock is bought up. You won't be able to import any of those parts legally. Also, the FCC voted to give themselves the power to retroactively ban those DJI products that are currently approved.
This is not just DJI drones but all DJI products. There is no other USA product that comes close to DJI, none of them cater to the public anyway. I do not believe they are a national security threat, if so then all the DJI drones currently operating would be a threat. It's nothing more than political and since everyone is complaining about DJT, this is my only complaint. His own son is in on it.
