Honest to God truth. My aunt and uncle had a 50ish acre lake in Brewton I fished back in the mid 90’s all the time. Probably caught 10-15 fish over 10 lbs in the couple years I fished it regularly. Me and my buddy doubled up at the same time with 2 fish over 10. Probably caught 20-30 fish over 8 lbs. A bad day was 50 plus fish with half being 3-5 lbs. No bull crap, truly the best fishing I’ve ever seen. It was professional managed by Auburn or something like that. They quit having it managed and it has been over taken by grass and is basically can’t be fished. I didn’t catch it but I saw a 13.8 caught by my buddy in a lake in Baldwin county. Those talking about being able to shove your fist in the mouth ain’t kidding.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

12.5 lbs.... Guides scale read .5 when empty. This was Shiner fishing Orange Lake in 1984. You can see the old skin mount is pretty crispy and a bit yellowed. I'll never forget opening this when it arrived to my home up North years ago. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/FHrdMvSD/20251229-103815.jpg)

My BIL still has both mounts and they are very worn and look identical to this one.

It was like 50 degrees and blowin'. We eventually trolled some shiners through a Cattail lined boat path. We both saw the big fish leave the bank and head for the bait. Exciting stuff ! Just bumping along with the trolling motor. I had a shearling coat that I brought to FL hoping to never wear it. I had it on that day. Guide said I did well. Heifer tried to jump but I foiled it.

I caught a 6 in our lake, my brother caught an 8.2 in it. Those were pretty cool. On the river I have a 8.7 mounted. Caught my lake bass on a Bill Dance “dancing craw” back in mid 80’s.
