Tree Dweller 14 point T Joined: Jul 2020 Posts: 9,818 Likes: 91 F L A	Haven't mounted a scope in a while. Why would I mount a rail, and tensioned scope rings when I could go one piece ? I was thinking "cool " till I realized my 40+ yr old Remington 30-06 has a similar mounting. The new mount is going to be on a Muzzleloader. Once the scope lands it will stay. I'm going to say that this old fitment might not be the best. DNZ offers many specific receiver fits. What am i missing ? Thanks That's an old Redfield "widefield" scope in the picture.

I use picatinny most of the time because of convenience when switching scopes. I find those old windage adjust Redfields personally offensive. The only thing I despise more is a see-thru ring. Remember Kwik-Site, the Baker stand of scope rings?

Nothing wrong with DNZ I just personally think they look like a PVC pipe strap. The one pieces you theoretically don’t worry about alignment issues or having to lap. Talley actually recommends not lapping.

Answer: because DNZ are mounts for people who can't otherwise figure it out. The fugly aspect is just a bonus that makes the user easily identifiable to the rest of us. No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

You have to spend some money and jump hoops to get to the same place with a rail system. Once there, the rail system is handy. But you say you wouldn't take advantage. So why bother? The DNZ is a far superior mount to the Redfield. I mean gosh lee.
