As far as brand, There are some I prefer over others. And some I would absolutely stay away from. Goodman, Amana and Daikin are the better options out there right now. IMO. They handled covid better and they handled the refrigerant changeover our industry is dealing with better. What brand is the current system? Being a gas system, and it’s having an intermittent issue, it’s likely a sticking pressure switch, flame sensing issue or burner problem- but without seeing the issue or knowing more details- we are only left assuming It’s an amana that was installed in 2014. The tech said it maybe be some capacitor, and airflow issue due to dirt on the air blower fan. Pisses me off that i agreed to get the ducts and a something in the unit cleaned a few months ago, and it didn’t include the blower. And it wasn’t asked if i wanted it. You don’t clean out 90 percent and leave a blower fan.
