Pike county - Based on cameras my herd numbers are similar to the past few years. One tract has several older bucks, the other tract does not. Im betting they are there somewhere but I have not gotten a picture yet. An adjoining tract has been leased by some guys from Tampa for the past 4-5 years and I am convinced Im seeing less bucks (could be wrong though). All in all I would say population and quality are definitely down from 20 years ago but been stable for the past 10 years. I think we are seeing a pile of decent 2yo and 3yos get killed as a result of legal corn and cell cameras.

We’ve killed 8 off our 10 acres in Coosa county so far, 6 bucks and 2 does. New ones showing up daily. Numbers are great CNC going to have a coronary event I’d be right there with Harold 😂 What if each 5-10 acre parcel being hunted in an area just shoots one?.......That's a rate of 100-200 deer per thousand acres
Folks that know don't shoot old does........

Dekalb and Jackson. I’d say numbers here are fairly stable, if not increased. The quality is pretty much on par with what it’s been for the last several years. Mmm Hmmmm.

Elmore: numbers of deer seen are 'as expected' from years past.
You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?

North DeKalb, I've hunted every weekend since the bow opener. Haven't hardly seen any deer until the past two weekends. I've seen probably thirty in two weeks.

Deer are thick as fleas in Walker county.

Updating yesterday's sit.
One of the best December hunts ( as far as sightings go ) I've ever had. It's hard to put a number on deer that are coming and going, but the total would be anywhere between 20-30 deer in all. A few small bucks, and one good one that came in a few minutes too dark. Crosshairs were invisible, but I could make him out in the bino's..
A great day.

Ton of bucks and does in northern Tuscaloosa County where I hunt. Can't walk through oak flats without seeing multiple trees with torn up ground underneath them. Deer weights are definitely up this year also. Killed a 4 year old cull 6 on Friday - he weighed around 185 lbs.

Fayette county. Having one of the best years in recent history. Seeing plenty of deer. I finished my season on 11/30, except for more doe killing, one son has killed a really good deer and the other son has had some great hunts without pulling the trigger yet. Right now Fayette Co is on pace to have both the lowest buck and doe harvest its had in the last 6 years…..Not my opinion, just what the numbers show….. Current totals from the snap poll of actual hunters around the state and the results are a real "shocker" 18 responses that things are actually up 5 responses that things are normal compared to previous years or where they want them on their property based on their management philosophy 0 responses that the sky is falling and there are no deer Maybe the numbers being reported are not an accurate barometer of what is actually happening with the Alabama herd. Matt has his finger on the pulse of what is going on in Fayette. Lives there, knows a ton of people, lives and breathes deer and deer hunting. I'd be tempted to believe what he says is happening with the herd in his area is the gospel and 100 times more accurate than what Game Check numbers and your charts indicate. The fact that Game Check numbers indicate a potential problem in Fayette and all these other counties is to me indicative that maybe there is a potential problem with using the Game Check numbers to paint the state or certain counties or areas with such a broad brush. There are simply way too many undefined and unquantifiable variables with regard to harvest (weather, acorns, drought, corn, cameras, pressure, lack of pressure, two years of higher than normal Covid harvest, hunter laziness, etc), as well as the unknown variables with actual GC compliance and participation, make the data pretty much useless unless you're looking at overall trends over 10 yr periods at least. Comparing just the last 2-3 years of even 5 is pretty much just an exercise in futility. That's the thing about statistics, garbage in, garbage out. All the other variables have to be factored into the equation before it has any statistical relevance. Looking only at reported kills, from a system that the state cannot even verify is remotely correct, is simply not an accurate reflection of anything on a short term basis.

I’m hoping like a realist that has some kind of idea of how non-bias sampling usually looks… …. The chances of drawing ALL one side for 16 in a row is like flipping heads on a coin that many times …….Y’all over do it and expose your hand ......But by all means, dont let me stand in the way of good entertainment.......continue.....

Those that aren't seeing any are welcome to play . I don’t think there are many of them left in the conversation dog……That rush to spout the big lopsided response is very indicative of just how much the narrative around here has been hi-jacked……..I was even sitting there thinking early on…..”Surely they’ll mix in a few bad responses to make it look halfway natural” ........

So you think it’s been scripted? Someone behind the scenes “Hey I want a few of you guys who are seeing deer to post on my thread.” Really?
