I hope you think all these 1A and 2A schools don't have to do the same fundraisers to have anything above barely making it. Im wide open in our athletic club and its a all yr struggle to raise enough for all sports. All these kids are homegrown local products.

Most private schools have people on staff constantly working at raising money. Principals, headmasters, alumni, coaches, booster clubs… raising money to pay for stuff is a 24/365 gig. Tuition doesn’t cover it all usually. The money don’t raise itself. A lot of private school teachers make less than public school teachers and the retirement program usually sucks. Teachers still have to spend a lot of their own money on supplies. There’s not that much of a difference in a lot of them. But the attitude about funds is definitely different.

Has anyone come to the conclusion that Pwyse will argue till the cows come home and then till they leave to head out to the next pasture on the other side of the creek? 😂

I’m pretty passionate about this. And I do like to argue. It just pushes my buttons when someone would rather penalize someone for success rather than do what it takes to compete with them. But I’m not going to change anyone’s mind I don’t know why I argue about it. I’m not a smart man 😂

I don’t believe he is arguing at all. He’s laid out the facts of the situation and guys still want to whine and say oh pitiful me. Not only is their argument factually not true, the complete opposite is.

Teachers still have to spend a lot of their own money on supplies. There’s not that much of a difference in a lot of them. But the attitude about funds is definitely different. Morgan Academy got smart with their fundraising. First they use a valuable resource, the land available to them, and have the deer hunt every year. They always dedicate the funds towards a project prior to the hunt and the money goes towards that. In the time I'm familiar with it, they have built a new gymnasium, new computers, library work, etc.. The second smart thing they have done is start a Grands' club. Since Grandparents have more money than parents usually, they have a dedicated program for them to work/donate to the school. I thought that was a great idea. As far as 1A schools fundraising, I'm constantly giving to my cousins' athletic endeavors at Maplesville. Those athletes and parents work hard at fundraising.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I went to Mobile this weekend to watch my grandson play in a 4th grade basketball game for his Christian school. ( A big 19-10 victory and he led the scoring with 7 points. ) I really doubt that there is a public school gym in the state as bad as the one where the game was played. That's what happens when you don't get any tax money. I just can't see how anyone thinks the private schools have an advantage in anything. It takes so much for a school to even function without any government support. Long ago I attended a public school through the 10th grade. Our facility was old, but we had a good gym and an Ag shop. I got to play in the AHSAA state tournament in Tuscaloosa and looked forward to trying to make it back the next year. But my family moved to another town and they sent me to an AISA school because the public school there was so bad. It was a drastic change for me. The private school didn't even have a gym and we played our games in the local armory on a concrete floor. Everything about the experience was inferior to public school due to the facilities difference. I got to play in another state tournament, but it was held in the Morgan Academy gym because they were one of the few private schools that had a decent gym. There are still a lot of places in the state that have public schools that are good enough to send your kids to them, but there's many places that aren't. Be thankful if you are one of the lucky ones.

Be thankful if you are one of the lucky ones. It’s in our DNA to pull for the underdog and frown upon the privileged. Victimhood so to speak. People project themselves into circumstances and that aspect is promoted in our society these days. It’s all about agendas. Good times create weak men. When hard times hit we don’t have time for all the gaslighting and strawman arguments. We use those to create narratives to promote our personal biases. The roaring twenties brought the hard times of the 1930s and the good times of the 60-70s brought the hard times of the late 70s early 80s. I still hear my dad talking and saying “life is not fair”. Get over yourself”. Just took a while to understand his words

My friend sent his daughter to a private school outside of Memphis. She’s going to Ole Miss now and it’s cheaper. 😂 Briarcrest I wanna say

There was an expose’ on a very poor area in south Florida where the kids only way out of poverty shipping to play pro ball. Thai was on a few years back. I think some pro footballers were coaching the leagues. I think there’s a similar program in other southern cities. This was league programs prior to schools but was designed to give these kids a head start. Similar to those Cuban and Puerto Rico training camps for baseball. Hoping to come to America and play.
Heck look at all those travel ball teams and specialized training.
I played little league and nothing like that was around way back then. 😂

Ever been on Montgomery Academys campus. It will make you jealous! Very nice! True, but I can count on half a hand those private schools in the entire state of Alabama. They are a unicorn so to speak. Most private schools in this state aren’t even close to having that kind of money. Not a fraction. I have to send my kids to a private school out of necessity. The public schools system is a complete failure here. It would be child abuse to even try. I laugh when people think you’re rich just because you send your kid to private school. It’s a major sacrifice and there’s plenty of times there’s zero left at the end of the month. That’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make to offer the best education they can possibly receive where I live. I’d love to be able to send them to school for free. Just not in the cards. We haven’t been able to afford an AC in the gymnasium and have been fundraising for years now to try and get it. That’s living large I tell ya. Ha!! Haves and the have nots my @ss.
