Anyone have a good load for the 130 grain TTSX and Varget for the .308?
Was thinking of loading test starting at 45 grains going up by .5 gr increments to 49 grains per the Barnes website.
Anyone have any experience that might save me a few rounds?

47.5 grains Varget pushing 130 grains ttsx at just over 3k FPS to deadly accuracy

No data with Varget but that 130gr TTSX over TAC with fly out a 22” barrel at an average of 3150fps. However you can’t go wrong with Varget.

Both powders are a great choice. TAC is an excellent powder for light bullets in 308.

I loaded some for a friend of mine that hunts with a tikka superlight using varget and I think I started off at 46.0 grains and went to 49.0 grains per barnes load data. There wasn't a huge difference in accuracy so we went with the 49.0 grain load to get the most velocity for expansion. He hasn't had a chance to try them out on a deer yet. I would like to try TAC with this bullet but I had a pound of varget on hand so that's why I chose it over TAC.

Yes it is. The 120gr in a7-08 at 3200fps is bad medicine also.

Ended up buying some Tac to use since it is cheaper than the using the Varget now and saw it was the powder Barnes recommends.
Hopefully I will get these loaded tomorrow and make it to the range this weekend.
It shows C.o.a.l. 2.735 is that what you guys are using?

It has been said that the barnes like a bigger jump to the lands than other bullets. I’ve not tinkered with them enough to formulate an opinion. I’d start with their data and see what happens.

I use Varget for my .308 load but haven’t done friend who use TAC and swear by it. I will never change my .308 load. I feel that I have found perfection. Sort of makes life easy when you know you have found utopia.

I could probably get a great load using Varget, but like you my load with TAC is money so I can’t convince myself to try something different. Varget is my go to for the 120gr. TTSX and the 140gr. Accubonds in the 7-08.

Has anyone ever tried ramshot big game with the 130 ttsx in a 308? This is the powder I use when loading 120 ttsx and ballistic tips in my 7mm-08 and I've been happy with it.

Ended up loading 49.3 gr of Tac.
I was a bit rushed testing the best coal. I didn't have as much time to let it cool between groups as I would have liked.
So far the best group was Coal 2.775". 5 shot group averaged 3164 fps.4.8sd. (22"barrel)
Going to try to get another box and play around a bit more but was happy with what this produced.

I used to shoot them. A max load of CFE 223 shoots tiny groups in my kimber and both my sons Brownings. That load clocked 3175 out of my rifle.

If y’all were getting 2800 fps and 1/2 " accuracy, would you try to get more speed ? This is with 46gr of varget

I’d want it as close to 3000 fps as I could get.

I’m running them 3250fps with TAC. Got close to that with CFE223 but I didn’t have the accuracy that I have with TAC.

Not deadly accuracy in my Finnlight, it won't shoot them accurate, even with different powders and different charges. My son's Tikka shoots them very well. I'm shooting 150 gr Accubonds over Varget and getting groups I can cover with a dime.

My finnlight 7-08 doesn't like the barnes either

My 7mm-08 model 70 extreme weather shot the 120 ttsx good enough to hunt with but wasn't as accurate as what I really like to see.

My Tikka shot the 120gr TTSXs really good but my rifle really loves the 140gr Accubonds. Almost 1 ragged hole at 100yds. Pushing them 2850fps with Varget.

That's what my finnlight likes as well. Accubonds and partitions. Oddly, my sako 90 in 308 seems to love the barnes 130gr
