Has anyone tried an online, at home sleep apnea test such as from Sleep Doctor? Or any other suggestions? Thanks

I don’t believe the results are nearly as accurate. The “at home” study kits started during Covid if I’m not mistaken and they were worthless. Why not go to the sleep center and do the real deal?

As someone with Apnea and have had several sleep studies, I don't see how they could work. The studies are not fun, but once diagnosed they can be life changing.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I had a prescribed home sleep apnea test, and it was a bluetooth transmitter with about 10 wires sending info to a Dr. I wanted a new c pap machine and this was one of the hoops I needed to do for insurance to pay for it. I already had a c pap and took a study at a sleep study center, it was comparable without moving into a room for a night and just as uncomfortable as the sleep center test.

I would just buy a continuous oxygen monitor. If your oxygen drops low your positive. The at home test only tells you this, then you would still have to have a expensive sleep study done to tell you what machine and pressure levels you need. so if you think you don't have it the online test would be ok, but if you probably have it you might as well go to the doctor. The doctor will give you the at home test then schedule the sleep study if needed. I might get one of those mail order for my wife though who probably doesn't have it.

I took an at home test through a buddy of mine that used to work at a local office. It monitored my breathing, heart rate, oxygen level and maybe other things. I had a hose in my nose, a sensor on my chest, a sensor on my stomach area, and the heart rate/oxygen sensor on my finger. It showed that i had about 20 episodes an hour (i think). As a result, “you’d feel better with cpap”. I use it every night.

Life changing for sure with a C-pap! I self proclaim as the world record holder with a complete obstruction (didnt breathe) for 84.6 seconds. When the nurses at the office kept saying hey come look at this, I knew I had potential. LOL I asked what is the worse they had seen and it was in the 43-45 second range. Dr. gave me some pills until my machine came in. I dont know what they were but I called them my happy pills. Wish I had some more of whatever that was.
Its not the will to win but the will to prepare to win!

Lost 110lbs and thank the good Lord I don’t need it, now! Hated it, but came to understand its necessity when I didn’t have it for a night or few nights, before.
experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

i had the same set up as jeepin. i hated the hose in the nose. i ended up having to to the sleep center. i trippled my "episodes". thats why i think the at home tests are flawed.

It is life changing if you need it. I cannot sleep without mine now. There are multiple masks to try until you find one you like.

Go get you a real test and get you a c-pap. In my sleep study about 7 or 8 years ago, I was having 40 episodes per hour. No wonder I felt like crap during the day. The sleep study that I had was horrible but like others said, I had to do it for the insurance to kick in. Get er done, and it'll be a game changer for you. It may take a few weeks for you to get used to it, you may have to do like I did and try a few masks until you find the one thats comfortable for you, but DO IT !! Good luck with yours.

I started out with septum and rhinoplasty surgery. After I healed up did the at home sleep study. Very easy process. Have been on cpap for 2 years and it’s life changing. No more sinus infections and deep sleep.

Thanks for the responses. I have a c pap but rarely use it. It’s been years since I had a test. When I use it I normally rip it off while I sleep. If I keep it on my lips get glued together and my tongue dries out like a piece of carpet. Any suggestions what might help with this. And yes it has a humidifier

I wear mine but still tired. I can tell a difference when I don’t use it. I get around 6hrs of sleep a night so that may play a role

I've been on CPAP 15-20 years. Can't sleep without it.
