If private schools weren’t winning all these championships, this wouldn’t even be a conversation, but they are.
Hence the OP’s original post and topic.

. True. If they played nice and just took a butt whoopin instead of working their can off and being disciplined, no issue. How dare they actually work and win some games.

These conversations always miss the mark in my experience. It’s not the athlete factor (recruited or not). It’s the coaching, quality of instruction, and commitment to fundamentals by overachieving kids. I recall a year in MS that private Jackson Prep with zero D1 recruits beat 5A Pearl HS with 8 eventual D1 players.

There should be enough private schools that they should form their own association and leave us poor public school people alone.

But then all your good players would leave and play in the private school league because the competition is better.

You would think that, with all the complaints, the poor public schools would make their own association. And leave all the competitive schools in the AHSAA.

We already have our own association.
Whats your thoughts on 2a Coosa Christian? Got put on probation then let the coach resign and probation was removed. Replaced the coach with Rush Probst. You reckon everything's on the up and up with them?

All what championships?
If i counted right (on my phone and having to scroll back and forth/ up and down and may have missed a couple), since 2000 (just picked a good round year to start), in football there have been 161 AHSAA football championship games played. Private schools won 24...public schools won 137. Hell, I bet hoover and Thompson have won as many as the all the private schools (after double checking, Hoover and Thompson combined for 16).

Double checked and updated with correct #s

Funny how they've (Coach Dickinson and Coach Wood) been recruiting those girls since they began playing volleyball in the CYO program back in, what, 3rd grade?

And, the new football coach needs to take recruiting lessons from all the other private schools...past few years haven't gone all that great.

Still a great program though. My son played with some baseball players that went there 4-5 years ago.

I know here in Mobile some private schools are reducing the number of scholarships because the donors’ kids weren’t getting playing time.

That’s interesting. Who is doing it and how do you know it’s true?

Look at the numbers from 2010 on in 1a -3a and see the number of championships

Look at the numbers for 2012, 2014, and 2022 for 2A in the three most rural counties in north Alabama. Just kidding. However, if you let me define the criteria I can make the answer fit. lol. Watch out or CNC will be in here with a map and some stats.

I won’t name the school but a better way to say it would be the donors are reducing scholarships by donating less because their kids weren’t playing.

I was being sarcastic...my oldest girl graduated in '19 and was there when Bubba Thompon, Jalen Tolbert, Marlon Williams, Eric Garror, Jacorian Bennett, Carlton Martial, and several others that played college ball / pro ball were there. I think they made the playoffs each year and won the blue map, sandwiched by two red maps.

My youngest graduated in '24 and I don't think they even sniffed the playoffs during her time there.
