What about St Michael's? They seem to be getting good in a hurry. They have some good players and an NFL QB for a coach. And the son of an NFL QB for a QB. Then being at a private school has nothing to do with them getting good in a hurry.

What about St Michael's? They seem to be getting good in a hurry. You do realize that their starting quarterback has the genetics from an NFL quarterback, correct? And that his dad chose to put him in school there due to religious factors correct? Are you trying to say that Saint Michaels has Phillip River son on scholarship? Sidenote, how about you throw orange Beach in that mix? Or Spanish Fort? Neither one or very old programs. Amazingly they have phenomenal athletes at public schools. Don’t think you have to wonder too hard how that happens. There are a lot of both private and public schools that do not give scholarships to athletes. Likewise, there’s a lot that do. Not sure how that become private versus public school thought other than someone got beat by a better team and dad got upset his kid didn’t win.

Pwyse. Thanks for stating the facts that some can’t accept. JohnG I really don’t understand why they don’t understand it.

[/quote Public school people think every player on the private school team is on scholarship. That’s so far from the truth. Take UMS Wright for example. They usually have 2-3 kids on the field that are on scholarship. The rest of them are just hard nosed mean rich kids that are well coached and well disciplined. They work hard and are super smart.[/quote]
I don't have kids old enough to be worried about this topic but the statement about UMS wright is dead on. We played them multiple times. They usually had 2-4 very good athletes and the rest were hard nose and disciplined. We, at a public school had equal or more players getting recruited but UMS did not make many mistakes on the football field, if any, and thats what made them so good. Always had a lot of respect for Coach Curtis for it. Not sure how it's operated now. That was a long time ago

They have incredible facilities. They are building an incredible football facility right now if they aren’t done with it. Kids and families want to go there because it’s very nice. Their baseball stadium is the nicest high school facility I’ve ever seen. Public schools don’t have to give scholarships. The students can go there for free anyways. The families don’t have to cover their tuition, the tax payers do. Thanks for pointing out some good facts jhardy.

It always amazed me how those 200lb o linemen pushed around the 280lb d linemen. Great technique.

Im assuming the rest of the team is all catholic.

Yes but that doesn’t mean you have to be catholic to go there. Just like you don’t have to be catholic to attend a Catholic Church.

They're not allowed on the perch boat!
