Once again, we see private schools composing a significant number of finalists in the 1A-4A ranks (3 out of the 8 this year). IMO it’s past time for the AHSAA to exclude them from the playoffs. Feel free to allow them to mix it up in the regular season, but come playoff time schools that can recruit and have non-teachers as head coaches have no business being included.
Should the AHSAA also exclude city schools that have broken away from the local public school system? They're nothing more than a private school without the "private school" label. They offer the same "scholarships" that private schools offer.
