Chris, if the state decided to sell a privilege license to bait turkeys under the premise of “manage them how each landowner sees fit”, I’m pretty sure you’d get quite passionate about bad policy. Whew. Steppin on toes now brotha 😂 Nah, you can respect someone and disagree with them at the same time Wish more people understood that!!

Well, I hunted yesterday morning on a acorn hill in the swamps seen deer all morning probably heard 15 shots versus 2-3 opening day. One thing I had happen was interesting a doe fed under me and had to taste recycled coffee and salt in the acorns where i had peed out of my ladder stand. As Shaw has always said they don't know the difference. This thread started out about where have they gone. To many acorns and to hot for much movement. Talked to several buddies went yesterday evening in the heat nobody saw a deer

I didn't get any pics this morning. All the deer are dead. BLASTED REGS ! I agree BPI. It's a total wipe out, statewide. Guess it's finally over and we succeeded in killing every last deer in the state. Not a single pic on 4 different pieces of property in three diff counties. Time to start fishing. Hopefully we can finish off all the turkeys in the spring. Heard the new commissioner is big on hen shooting and we will be able to kill 2 a day and they are extending the season statewide all the way into July.

Guess it's finally over and we succeeded in killing every last deer in the state. Not a single pic on 4 different pieces of property in three diff counties. Time to start fishing. Hopefully we can finish off all the turkeys in the spring. Heard the new commissioner is big on hen shooting and we will be able to kill 2 a day and they are extending the season statewide all the way into July. Well I’m still going spend thanksgiving at the camp. Deer or no deer!! I’ll go fishing in the pond if I need something to do.

I'm going too and as usual, I'm fairly certain that I will see plenty of deer. Might not see a buck that I'll want to shoot, but I'll most likely see good numbers of both bucks and does. Think I might take the bow and kill a couple does so that I can drive that deficiency % on CNC's harvest charts down a little bit towards dead even with last year's numbers on doe kills, since everyone seems to be slacking. That'll probably make him feel better.

I always tell'em instead of wasting your time trying to blast a doe.... rather just take up something else you are good at like playing grabass and windowlicking.
Bucks are still in Bachelor groups in S. Alabama. Reality is.... you could probably push rifle season back a few weeks. They rutting in Feb. Not because there's too many does but because that's when they rut. Always have. That's not changing they do it when they do it not when some dumbass biologist with a different theory wants them to rut.

They have rutted here right after Christmas for as long as myself, or anyone else remembers until the last few years. Now it's a 3 to 4 month breeding window. Why ? Way more does than bucks. And eat a bag.

They have said it would change the intensity of the rut and shorten it.

Well, I am grounded today, family here and cooking. Me and son-in-law going to duck hunt the next 2 days. All these duck hunters around here will run these deer over to my sanctuary and then I will start trying to make a comeback for the Jackson county numbers lol. Life is good right now and I am thankful For the Lords blessings

I found all the deer. They are all in this clear cut with me this morning. Seen 16 so far. 7 of them was a group of young bucks. #12 was an old lone doe. I didn’t like the way she was eyeballing me so she’s going to take a trip to the camp later this morning.
It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.

I’m honestly shocked that with you being an “out of stater”, that there are any deer left on yours or the surrounding properties to kill. Lol. Glad you’re having a good hunt. Happy Thanksgiving. I’m sure the food will be incredible. Kill a biggun too.
