If I owned a modern sporting rifle, I’d own one in .223/556, 7.62x39, 6.8 SPC2, 6.5 Grendel, 350 legend, and a 6mm ARC. I would have probably killed multiple deer with all of them except the 6ARC because I probably wouldn’t have hunted with it yet. And they would all be basically recoil free. Any would be a great choice for a kid. Especially with the adjustable stocks.
