not too much talk about how the car chip shortage is gonna affect inventories and prices in the future. maybe it won't but it seems like a lot of auto plants are going idle

At this point I believe they will do anything to keep car prices artificially high.

About the cheapest new car you can buy is $20k and the absolute cheapest truck you can buy is about $30k. And that's for just the basics.

I figured with all the promises of the electric car, they would figure out how to make inexpensive electric cars for folks seeking just basic transportation, but I don't think they really have any interest in doing that because the profit margins are so slim.

The last time we bought a new car was about 18 years ago. Never again.

A friend of mine works in upper management at a Honda plant and told me yesterday they were working 3 day weeks because of this. So it’s real for sure.

I remember all those ford trucks supposedly in Kentucky, waiting on chips during covid. I dont think those trucks ever hit the open market. It drove the price higher and it never came down.

Just a way to slow down production because inventories have been rising.

Simple Market manipulation to keep demand and prices up.

The Goobers that make a 4 cylinder $14K reliable 4 door would own several banks worth of money.

That is long long gone, just like the $100,000 house.
There’s not any vehicles offered in the US under $20,000

Cool, you found one whole example. Well done. It’s literally the only car under $20,000.
I can’t even recall the last time I saw a newish Nissan Versa.

What is sad that other countries receive stuff that we don't. "Volkswagen CEO Releases a NEW $16K Pickup Truck".
