Shot a doe this morning; first one I've killed with a ML is several years. She was only about 40 yds away and the Knight dropped her DRT. I'm surprised that more ML hunters don't use a 45. I'm shooting the Knight red hot 175g bullets with 3 pyrodex pellets. It gives a mv of 2425, and a 308 factory load with 180g bullets is usually rated at 2625. A deer doesn't know the difference. I don't like cleaning the thing and hunt with it only during the week of ML season, but it's not much of a handicap compared to a centerfire, just a hassle to keep up with everything. The longest shot I've ever made with it was 220 yds, but it would kill one a lot further in the right hands. (Probably not mine  ) It's not really a primitive weapon, I didn't make the rules. Good luck to all of you who keep hunting with a ML because you enjoy it. I looked into dropping down to a .45, but it’d really limit availability of the accessories. I’m always shocked to see how many old knight rifles are still floating around. They used to be king of ML back in the day.
