The lower you decrease the deer population relative to the amount of food available the less competition you have for resources……which equates to less deer moving around in search of food
But this (paired with sex ratio management) is my exact management philosophy. Where’s the problem?
The problem is that we’re already below that threshold in many areas trying to drive the population down as far as folks can convince hunters to take it…….The goal for farming and insurance is to take it as close to zero as possible….It has nothing to do with managing at a happy medium…….For example, there will be no benefit seen from those extra 900 does that got shot…..You’re not going to suddenly have folks killing booners that weren’t before because of it…..You’re only gonna have less deer and that’s true across the majority of our counties where doe harvest is ramping up………
This is where some of y’alls ideas are living on a few of the best properties in the best areas……Y’all act like all we gotta do from Jackson to Mobile is get folks to shoot more does and lower the populations and bada boom bada bing…..great buck hunting for all is gonna spring forth……one fiddys on every property that participates…..
Meanwhile back at the ranch…….in many areas there are very few bucks making it past 2-3 years old anymore..... I don’t think quality doe management is going to be what pushes us over the top in this scenario …….
