It is my opinion, and it worked very well for my son, is that new hunters should start out with single shots. When they know they only have the one shot so they need to make it count, they are much more selective and careful with the shot. My son started out with a Handi-rifle in .243 and he killed plenty of deer with it. He can out shoot me now.
