If I need tracking services I would want to treat the tracker right.
Thanks.

If someone comes out and seems professional about what they do and all I'd give them at least $100......

Thanks for the reply. I am not a wealthy person but $100.00 seems quite low. I mean if you figure if a fellow was to drive an hour each way and spend two or 3 hours helping me find a deer his time alone would be worth 100 dollars and then you add in paying for his know how and experience. From your posts it seems that often you are helping folks because you enjoy doing it, but "The laborer is worthy of his hire".

I tipped more than that for Ammon and Woodrow to find my buck several years ago. It’s not about the money to me or them, loved the time spent with Ammon!

Things have changed a lot since I first started…..Now that its grown in popularity and there’s a lot more guys with a dog…..its getting more common for trackers to get stood up and nobody return your call after they schedule you to come out..... or call you in behind other trackers without knowing it….or called out to look for a miss and then stiffed on a tip……etc, etc…..The best one that pisses Randy Vick off to no end is the one that lets you load up and drive 45 minutes only to call you right before you get there to let you know that they’ve just found it, nevermind……Somehow I’ve been lucky at avoiding those but he gets hit every year with a couple……I’m probably jinxing myself now just talking about it. grin

The guy the other day in the no tip story actually told me when we were done that he already had another tracker lined up for that afternoon and that he may just call him back and tell him nevermind now……I bet a dollar to a doughnut though that someone else came out there and beat down the sticks again without ever knowing I had already looked for it……Its just a more common part of the game now. This must be my year because I had another one last night….. A young guy from Florida that was confident he smoked it right behind the shoulder despite not having any blood or arrow or deer or anything that remotely pointed toward a hit…..It’s most likely that the deer ducked and he slung his arrow out through the hell hole of a little pine thicket we plowed through for an hour looking……

Dang it man……somebody break out the small caliber rifles already. rofl gun

I was supposed to go to one the other night and got a call from another tracker that afternoon. He was on a track and asking a me a few questions and telling me about it. Got to asking where he was and figured out he was at the track I had lined up for that night. I got a call from the hunter a little later to check and see if we were still good for that night. I then asked about the other dog he had out there and caught him off guard. We didn't go to that track.

Damn……I’m sure we’re all tracking behind each other from time to time without knowing it

We can normally tell when we are... Or the hunter has grid searched when they say they didn't.

Yay for leg shots!......This one was pretty text book and routine…..Deer was shot low in the brisket/leg and ran out of the field nose down struggling……We jumped him out of the bed at 300 yards and bayed him at 500……

Recovered a really nice 8 pt this morning……Pretty routine gut shot on a quartering to angle that didn’t leave but a few small spots of blood near the hit site…….Found him in a thicket about 300 yards away…

We got to go catch a leg shot yesterday. Shot straight on and missed right and low. Took about half mile to get him. Nice change of pace from all the Backwhack/backstrap shots we’ve been getting

Recovered a young hunters second deer this morning......His best buck to date......Shot was just a little back and low......They tracked him last night and may have unknowingly bumped him......We found him 350 yards from the hit site

Went in fully expecting this one to still be alive this morning but he was dead on arrival 100 yards past last blood………..Shot was just high enough on the leg to blow out bone and go through the brisket……Coyotes had done got to him and ate the hams completely off…….Its crazy how prevalent they are at any given spot on the landscape…..Its hard to leave one overnight…..
