At the risk of being accused of bitching and not providing a solution………..why in the world would we be selling F35 to Saudi Arabia??

It is to give the illusion of the balance of power in the Mideast.

Israel and Saudi Arabia are the only other countries that balance out Iran.

Turkey is in there too, but they are a wild card.

F-35 was developed as an international fighter. F22 is exclusive to US only.

Why would we not sell to our allies? The entire purpose was to sell to allies.

Many nations fly the F-35. It's inferior to the F-22 and even the F-15EX in some respects.

The last I checked the Saudies are allies. While I don't trust any of our "allies" I also understand I'm isolationist to a degree. But we do have allies and we sell our tech to them.

They are Arab. Muslim. I don't care for either, but I'm not narrow minded enough to think we don't have to have allies amongst that demographic.

Why do you think we shouldn't sell it to our allies? Not picking at you. I'm curious. We already sell to the following nations. A few of which are easily more questionable than Saudi Arabia.

United States, United Kingdom, Italy, Australia, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Belgium, Poland, Finland, Canada, Switzerland, Singapore, Czech Republic, Greece, and Romania

Edit: I'd bet good money the US has the ability to pick these planes up on radar somewhow. And I'd also bet theres a mechanism to disable them if needed.

Australia has a military?? Hmm who knew? 😂

To your point about the Americans putting bugs in the stuff we sell our allies, things like planes usually have a representative from that nation on site during pretty much the entire process if I’m not mistaken. Just like our military does when we build a ship or a plane for them. So it wouldn’t be impossible to embed it with a “repo switch” but probably highly unlikely.

That would also end any new sales to other countries in the future if it was ever discovered. They’re also not giving the Saudis the full electronics package so it’s not like we’re selling them anything equal to what our military has.

Saudi Arabia and China participated in joint military exercises a while back, so there’s that. Hopefully China won’t end up with one of these. I still haven’t forgotten that the majority of pilots of the planes used as weapons on 9-11 were Saudis. I guess I don’t trust them and from what I’m reading the Pentagon has reservations about the sale.

No one fully trusts the Saudi's, but, we have to have some kind of presence in the mid. east. The Saudi's were the ones that were smart enough to get in and be viewed as relatively moderate, it is an illusion though, you know that, and we know that, it's just ------ uggghhhhh.

Funny story about Saudi’s and fighter jets. Back in the early 80s, I was in flight training learning to fly F-4s. We had several Saudi students in training with us. One afternoon one of our jets with a Saudi student pilot was overdue. We waited and waited and were just about to call the FAA when the phone rings and it’s Mohammed. Turns out they had engine trouble and diverted to a small civilian airfield in South Carolina. Once we got over the relief, we asked Mohammed if he had money for a food and a hotel since he was not at a military base. He said he would be fine because he always carried a small amount of cash for emergencies. Just out of curiosity, we asked him how much he carried and he said $7,000!

To fly fighters for the Saudi Air Force you have to be a member of the Royal Family but the Royal Family is VERY large. When they graduated, the Saudi students tried to buy all the flight instructors Rolex watches but they had to turn them down due to regulations!

The military industrial complex has to sell arms to stay relevant. If we can't bomb anyone we have sell them to people that will. Its sickening to me.

The Saudi crown prince said he's going to invest $1 Trillion Dollars into the US economy. Trump was all smiles about that.
We should know that means its just an extra trillion added to our debt.

Kind of the nature of the beast

To get better stuff gotta use in actuality, not test. Testing expose only so much

As far as the F35. Y'all don’t think we got better stuff not known by the masses. How old is that jet’s technology?

The F22 is the true badass

F22 is older and less updated. Although they are upgrading it.

But the F22 has tech the F35 doesn't and that's why we don't sell it. As lax as our government is with information, I don't doubt the Chinese know damned near everything on both. They just suck at reverse engineering.

You think that's real or A.I.?

It would be cool if it's real, but this day and age it's really hard to tell...
