I am looking for a descent used shotgun for my wife. We spent the day shooting skeet today and she fell in love and now wants a shotgun for Christmas. Any wisdom on decent options for her that's not crazy priced. She handled a 12 gauge like a champ, so, I would love to find her a good 12 gauge option.

I would suggest an O/U that fits her well and she points well with. I haven’t picked one up but I would look at the CZs o/u or some of the Turkish made O/Us are great for the price.

I recently picked up a couple cheaper Turkish made O/Us. One is an Iver Johnson 28 ga. I like it a lot, AND it has a steel receiver. The 28 is also slimmed down over what I would expect a 12 ga receiver to be. Other one is a Stevens 555 in 16 ga. It is the larger receiver/stock, much like I would expect a 12 ga to be. I have not shot it as much/not sure how much I like it yet. Both of these are in the $500-$600 range. CZ is, I think, a little more.
An Auto gun will typically be more recoil forgiving. Another down-side to an auto is that you have to go back around and pick up your hulls after a round (at least at all the clubs I have shot at).
An O/U in 12 ga can get rough after a round or two. Def want lighter target loads. I personally load for all my skeet stuff, and for the 12s, I go as light as I can get. If you go O/U, I would highly recommend one with an Extractor - NOT an Ejector, system. That way you pluck the hulls instead of getting hit in the face or picking them up!
Don't get a pump for skeet...
Also check the club bulletin boards. We have 2-3 listed there for sale.

Rem 1100 or 1187. I saw you said 12ga but let her shoot a 20ga, she might really like it. They are lighter of course and very soft shooting with dove/target loads.

Winchester SXP Compact Trap would probably be the least expensive that you can order new. The Franchi Catalyst is marketed for gals, but I think the auto is only available used at this point. Beretta A300 with a Beartooth comb raising kit is a good choice because the stock can be adjusted for length. You want the kit because the A300 doesn't have the Monte Carlo like the others. Girls got long necks and small heads.

I’d stick with 20ga imo. My wife shoots a weatherby sa-20. Very soft shooting shotgun.

At Academy you can pick up a Turkish made O/U for about $500. Get the 20 gauge. You will not be disappointed.

Stoeger makes the m3000 12 gauge in a compact model. My wife has used one for years. Good shooting gun for her.

Yldiz at Academy, or CZ. Both great guns for the money, but they are O/U, not auto.
I have a Retay 20 auto that is a great gun as well.
