Shot a doe this morning; first one I've killed with a ML is several years. She was only about 40 yds away and the Knight dropped her DRT. I'm surprised that more ML hunters don't use a 45. I'm shooting the Knight red hot 175g bullets with 3 pyrodex pellets. It gives a mv of 2425, and a 308 factory load with 180g bullets is usually rated at 2625. A deer doesn't know the difference. I don't like cleaning the thing and hunt with it only during the week of ML season, but it's not much of a handicap compared to a centerfire, just a hassle to keep up with everything. The longest shot I've ever made with it was 220 yds, but it would kill one a lot further in the right hands. (Probably not mine ) It's not really a primitive weapon, I didn't make the rules. Good luck to all of you who keep hunting with a ML because you enjoy it. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/Kj7GYstj/PXL-20251121-144132341.jpg)

I’m always shocked to see how many old knight rifles are still floating around. They used to be king of ML back in the day.

Congratulations Mr Steve!
I looked for a .45 but they did not seem as readily available for some reason.
Ended up buying a .50 encore off a member here
I guess I really would not have to worry too bad about .45 components as I don’t shoot deer very often!
That knight is a fine set up 👍🏻
Well, the way I see it is there's just too many assholes On a good day there's a bunch of assholes in here. On a bad day there's too many assholes in here.

![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/QNfPcVJQ/IMG-3411.png) Pop got him nice little 8 pt last week on a plot. He’s about to turn 81 and was happy to burn some powder. Shot 75 yard 100gr 777 and 250 gr Hornady SST ran about 75 yards.
