"Need a dog in XYZ" has become another hunting fad. Just like "I'm gonna back out and give him 24 hrs" only to find him 30 yrds from shot site. Its almost like its the way to announce to the world that you actually shot at a deer. I know why it may seem that way just watching it play out on social media but most of these folks have deer that they legitimately cant find or that they’ve put a very marginal shot on…..That’s coming from someone who goes out there when somebody “calls for a dog” and sees the situations……The number of calls who just want a dog to come out is pretty low compared to the total…..What you’re seeing with most people calling for a dog is more of a reflection on the number of marginal shots being made……It happens….it part of hunting….but that’s the main cause and not really anything to do with a “fad”
