We were probably 200 yds from them at the time and he doesn't have a loud bark. Just wondering if it would pickup growling cause I figured he was growling at the coyote.

My Michigan buddy posted this morning that he has taken 55 tracks out of 378 calls since October 1st…….That’s an insane amount of calls……Nobody in Alabama even comes remotely close to that type of call volume for one month

Upgraded the jet sled this evening with some of those ratchet style tie downs……Bungees don’t really work that great…..I got to studying on it a little more when I got home and I’m gonna go back and get some d-rings to swap out with the hooks on one end so that they for sure wont come loose in transit when the sled flexes like bungees are bad about doing…….I found one old d-ring but I think I’ll go ahead and just get a couple new ones that are one size bigger and a little more heavy duty than the one I found. I zip tied the front hooks in place so they are fixed and wont come loose ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/O6nLVvo.jpeg) I also carry two homemade leashes in my pockets that I use to lash the dogs to a tree after we recover one…..It keeps me from having to beat them off the deer the whole time if I dont…….They double well though as extra tie downs for the sled if legs or a rack are hanging out, etc……. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/S8cl8ks.jpeg)

Well we went o’fer today…….0 for 3…….
First one was shot from straight on in the chest…..I think the deer whirled on them or was standing a little quartered and the arrow came out of its leg instead of penetrating the chest cavity…..We tracked it 500 yards to where it wallered in a creek and then left and headed back the way he came……A couple hundred yards past the creek we decided it wasn’t fatal
The second track was likely a single lung hit……Hunter only got about 6-8 inches of penetration but had good looking blood for a couple hundred yards……We jumped him still alive at about the 500 yard mark 6 hrs after the shot…..
From the looks of the arrow the last track was likely a high shot from a ground blind through the top of the shoulder……They had a little blood for 150 yards and then it trickled out…..The track had been grid searched to death by a big group of folks and nothing was marked where last blood had been found or anything so it made it super tough to work though…..We did what we could with it and called it……Cool thing about this track was that it was for the QB of the Auburn high school football team that I’ve been watching all season…..Didnt even realize it until we got to chit chatting on the walk out.

All hunting activity has to be crammed into that short window. Do you run 55 tracks a year during Bamas full deer season? Not to mention that Michigan also probably has 700k hunters all hitting the woods in that tight window versus less than half of that number in Alabama.

The biggest factor at play is just that the quality of our management sucks compared to most other states.....We're like Auburn in the SEC competing for last place

If you’re talking about lassoing the deer I’ll have to leave that to some of these other cowboys……I’m not looking to win any Darwin Awards… One ol’ boy has done had a brow tine run through his hand…..One day you’re eventually gonna hear about somebody getting mauled trying to catch and stabb big bucks like they’re hogs…..Its just a numbers game and a matter of probability catching up with you….I’m certainly not telling anyone what to do…..Just making an observation

Agreed cnc. Grabbing a big hog is sketchy enough. No way I’m grabbing a big mature buck with a bunch of knives on his head. A friend of mine and myself were going to take down an injured buck one night. When we grabbed him to cut his throat it was on. That 120 pound buck bout killed both of us. We finally got him and I said never again

If your gonna grab a big buck you better do it with the intention of never letting go. Ace got me gored when he was 6 months old. Deer about had him drowned by the time I caught up and didn't have much of a option but to jump in

If you’re talking about lassoing the deer I’ll have to leave that to some of these other cowboys……I’m not looking to win any Darwin Awards… I’m referring more to like a scenario where a 10pt dies 15 feet from the edge of a pond dam in 10ft of water in 30 degree weather! Them leashes come in handy!😁👍🏻
