Looking to make the switch to the first lite/sitka stuff.
What would y’all get? What works good for you? Must haves? Bow season through duck season through end of deer season.
Also, I tried first lite’s foundry pant. They are too long. How did you combat this due to the lack of length options etc

I have the first light wool furnace base layer pants and 1/4 zip they are legit

I’ve got a truck load of the Sitka clothing. My son wears it and every birthday, Father’s Day and Christmas he buys me more so I have accumulated a lot. I wouldn’t buy any base layers. To me, they are no better than long johns I've had for years. The outer layers are excellent. They are well made and will last a lifetime. If I was going to buy just one set for Alabama hunting, I’d buy the Stratus pants and jacket. It’s windproof and what I wear 90% of the time. My son likes the bibs but I’m just not a bibs kind of guy so I go with pants and a jacket. Their gloves are expensive and fair at best. For really cold weather, go with the Fanatic pants and jacket. It’s a bit bulky especially for bow hunting but you will not get cold, I promise. I’m packing now for a 10 day trip to Illinois and the Sitka gear is the first thing in the bag.

I think I am going to get the base layers from first lite. The furnace ones likely would be too toasty most of the times from what I’ve read. Interesting on the outer gear gearing towards Sitka…

It's been a while since ive compared them, but I'm very happy with my Stratus pants. But I actually wear the Sitka Mountain Pant more often. I like the fit and with good base layers they're good for even cool mornings. But when you won't get hot when temps rise in the afternoon. I have not bought any First Lite base layers yet but that will be my next investment. I've bought some of the Midway USA well base layers and I love how soft they feel against the skin. But they're not durable and they have holes after wearing just a few times. I really like good wool base layers and all the reviews ive read on FL have been good I was actually surprised when I first tried on Sitka gear how well it fit me. I'm not small, 6-4 & 250 lbs and I'd always had the impression that it ran small to size. But that's not been the case in the pieces I've bought.

I have camo from several companies and typically buy the most affordable through the outlets. My first lite summer weight shirts get shredded in briars, so no more of them but I really like the corrugate pants. My kuiu pants are the old tetons and I'm running low but, they're two way stretch and outlast all the 4 way stretch pants. I like all of my Kuiu tops. My Code Of Silence Versa pant/jacket did well around the 15 degree mark last year late season. Their merino mid-fleece and naponee top are great for me as well. This year I've added fanatic bibs (purchased with a deep discount) On the 5-20 degree days there's a goos chance I'm wearing my Baffin boots, they work well for me. I hate cold feet. Some great deal on Kings camo at times too. I have a set of XKG bibs and the Anorak wind defender, both were great in the 20's but I'll only gun hunt in those. The sitka gear is super quiet for late season archery and so is the code of silence gear.

Wearing Sitka stratus jacket and midi pants right now and it feels great. Bought a Finatic vest for Missouri in a few weeks. I have the under Armour base layers and have been happy with those. I get 40% off through Gov X on Sitka is why I have it.

I’ve seen the code of silence as I think it’s the guy who developed the old good cabelas stuff.
I’m just looking to be comfy in the 30-50 deg temps that are typical. I can add a layer or so if it gets to the 20s

Go with the Incinerator jacket and Bibs. We wore these in IL and it was single digits. We stayed warm. Only thing cold was my toes!
Next time you come by I will let you see how they wear. The only thing I dislike about the jacket is that the zipper is curved. It was made this way so it would be out of your way drawing a bow, etc. I would rather it be straight.
Right now is the wrong time to buy these as hunting season is the highest demand. I saw the bibs and jacket on clearance back in the summer for 250 each. I started to order another because it was such a good deal. The one I wear the most is the “Duck oven” jacket. I never wore my Incinerator jacket last year only wore the Duck Oven. You can find them for around 250 on sale. If I see a special I will forward it to you. Don’t let folks steer you the wrong way as these are the best I have ever worn when it comes to staying warm.
PS-Don’t wear them till you get situated for the day! Wear them over your clothes going to your stand and then put them on when you cool off. They are also dead silent when moving in them.
In the unlikely event one of your bullets actually makes contact with a deer and kills it, take them off before attempting to drag it out!
