Like I said on page one it probably will not cycle in a 7400. Just make the first shot count

Any caliber with can on it. It is crazy how recoil is tamed on my tikka t3x superhighway 7mag.
It kicked like a mule. Put a banish 30 on it now like shooting a .243

I was aware of that possibility. It did cycle a couple of times. I have a buddy that’s a machinist/ gunsmith that going to do a deep clean and slick the action up and it just might eat them…. Interesting that it shot 5 in higher than 150 full power corelokt.

I've never done it, not even on a shotgun, but I believe opening the gas port some could be worth investigating.

I always thought the reason slower loads print higher is because they exist the barrel later in the recoil cycle. The muzzle has risen more by the time the bullet makes it out. That's my guess anyway.

Single shots tend to be snappy. Unless you go down to a .243 or other 6mm cartridge. The easiest option is to pick up a .243 of any type. If he likes the autoloaders, you could also consider an AR-15 in 6.5 grendel or 6 arc. They are easy shooters as well with a 2-stage trigger.

That’s the next thing he’s going to do if the cleaning doesn’t work.

7mm-08 with reduced recoil loads. Started my little skinny 8 yr old grandson with a Remington model 7 youth model 7mm-08. Never missed a deer with it. Put a full size stock on it and gave it to him for his 21st birthday.
