All of us outdoor types are at greater risk. I can't count the number of pre-cancerous or early stage skin cancers I've had frozen or cut out. Early detection can save your life. I lost my brother in law to a melanoma in his scalp that was too far advanced when detected. He fought as long as he could, but it was a miserable way for a great guy to go out. Get checked once a year
