I bought a white kayak for duck hunting… I’ve washed it thoroughly and sanded it down with 60 grit. I sprayed a small area with some flat rustoleum 2x and even though I only let it dry for about a day, I wasn’t too pleased with the adhesion. I’m not sold on how good I think the rattle can primer would improve adhesion so I thought that if I’m going to prime it, I want to make sure it’s worthwhile. Can anyone suggest any type of primer or adhesive promoter? I even thought about using some of that purple pvc adhesive. Any thoughts? I just don’t want to have to respray it all the time…

Krylon makes a canned spray paint specifically for plastic and it comes in an array of colors.
If I'm correct, I think it is called Fusion.
We have used it with great success at work, as it has real good adhesion qualities.

Some adhesion promoters are made for specific plastics. It would be best if you could find out what type plastic it is made of snd get a product for that plastic

60 grit seems really coarse for that. I would do a denatured alcohol wipedown, then use maroon scotchbrite.
Self etching primer next, then follow with a rattle can that lists plastic. I think Rustoleum makes a camo line that will cross. Has worked well for me on rifle stocks.

60 is way to0 coarse, you’re just looking yo scuff the surface to give the paint a mechanical bite
Hit it with 120 or 150 7447 Scotchbrite hand pad Adhesion promoter Krylon fusion Clear coat in whatever shine level you want matte, satin or gloss

Call the mfg of the kayak.
You also probably need to get rid of what ever they used as a release liner for the molds.

Has held up great!

Which adhesion do you recommend? I've seen bulldog and duplicolor. Duplicolor more available and cheaper where I am.
