It is bad to buy an expensive bottle of bourbon and have it taste rather unimpressive, but you don't want to admit to yourself or your bourbon snob buddies that it tastes anything other than magnificent, because you spent a bunch of money on it... Thank you for saying this!!! This is really what got this post started. I have friends that spend a lot of money on bourbon that tastes like pure crap to me. One of my favorites is Old Forester. Not too expensive but tastes good to me. I’ll admit to one. Had wanted an Elijah Craig 18 yr for a few years but never got lucky enough to find one at a reasonable price. Finally found one and paid normal retail, which was $165. Was a huge disappointment. But that’s me. Others may love it.
