Yep. Did the same. Go to outdoor Alabama site and go to SOA registration page. Sign in with your CID # And get your rejection notices like me and the others did. 🤬

I’m headed to Blue Spring WMA for the dog hunt. I’ll scan the forum for tips and plan to bring my son along for the adventure.

Me and my son went to the Blue Springs WMA dog hunt in 2023. This hunt is not an organized dog hunt and You will need to get with a group of people that has dogs and is organizing a dog drive. Me and my son did not and could not get with a group so we stood out in the woods till about mid day listening to dogs running in the distance. We left mid day on 1st day and came back home. The Conecuh National Forest is some beautiful woods and I did enjoy that but with it not being a organized dog hunt like the Geneva State Forest hunt it did not work out for Us as for deer hunting.

Here’s the one that runs Geneva. They might be able to help you out with a POC.

Here's my short list from my draw. Can't decide if I want to take that 12/27 Portland hunt or the 01/15 Alternate and hope for the best. If I don't go this year I'm almost sure I'll draw a Portland rut next year with 7 points

I appreciate it. I sent a message to that group.

I’ve applied to hunt Oak Mountain each year and have never been drawn. I think that’d be a great hunt. I’ve seen some nice bucks in the park.

Decisions decisions. Portland Landing starting January 15th or the 22nd? Leaning toward 22nd.

Take the 22nd so I might can get bumped up on the 01/15 hunt laugh

Coosa, When do you think the rut is at its best in that area? I will be at Portland for the 1-15 hunt as a guest.

I've never hunted the rut down there but the Alabama Rut Map puts Portland in the 01/09-01/24 timeframe and from what I've heard from other folks that sounds about spot on.

I got the Geneva State Forest dog hunt. I've never been on a dog hunt and have always wanted to try it. So, I'm actually excited about this. I think hearing the dogs and anticipating what might run by quickly will be very fun. I've got good private land to deer hunt on regularly, so this will just be a bonus hunt for the season!

Take the alternate for 01/15 Portland. Lots of people with 6 to 7 points drawing hunter on multiple rut hunts at portland/uchee/cedar. Means lots of alternates getting bumped up. I would think the 01/22 would be the most desirable. Definitely wouldn't waste 6 points on december.
