I don't think a person should get fired for exercising their First Amendment protected right to free speech in their private life. If you're doing it while on the clock, then that's another story.
It's not their "private life" when they're posting it publicly....the first Amendment says they can't be arrested for saying it, it does not say that their employers cannot disassociate with them for choosing to publicly say/do something that could potentially financially harm the company, or their company's public reputation, due to their association
