The shooter will be found dead. They will say it was suicide. Dead men don’t talk.

I saw or heard something about it being a 30-06. Seems like it would have to have been suppressed, full power ammo would have been loud at 125 yards.

So did I and you could plainly see the break barrel was open on this air gun....

It was a Mauser 30-06. Can you imagine the damage with a shot to the neck?

The description I’ve read is a vintage Mauser. I wonder if it was sporterized and scoped. I know all of us snipers here on Aldeer can make a similar shot with iron sights, but a non-scope rifle, under intense pressure, over 100 yards, presumably without the ability to carefully tweak point of impact to ammo choice … neck shot?? I don’t know. I wonder if the rifle found was a planted diversion

Wasn't intended to be a neck shot. Charlie was wearing a ballistic plate vest and the bullet ricochet off the plate into his neck.

Even with iron sight, an average shooter can make a center mass shot at 125 yards with a little practice.

It is a sporterized Mauser with a stainless barrel and composite stock
The scope looks to be maybe a cheap Simmons scope with poor eye relief due to how far back it is mounted

Maybe its duct taped on like the golf course shooter ?

Smells like fish and we take it

Not duct taped but set as far back as possible which denotes poor eye relief (cheap scope)
Definitely a 1” tube and probably a 3x9x40
Appears to be a Simmons Aetech or similar scope

In for someone defending Jap made Simmons AETECs.

A rebarreled Mauser action bedded into a fiberglass stock could be a tack driver. Just sayin'. That used to be the thing.

That did used to be the “thing” and yes they would shoot accurately

That's a lot better. Looks like a long action something or other.

Ok, I change my tune. I see now it’s a scoped rifle. Even if it is a cheap scope, that’s leagues better than iron sights. If it was properly sighted in, absolutely capable of carrying out that shot.

I still say that I think this person has been trained more than your average trans moron. I maintain that for your average Joe, untrained and undisciplined, making the shot of your lifetime under time pressure and immense mental stress (I would suppose), is quite difficult. See your NFL kickers fold under pressure of a game winning field goal, PGA golfers rimming out 5 foot puts, and yes, the demand for dog trackers each deer season. I won’t be surprised if we find out the shooter was somehow not your average whacked out activist

If he’d missed you’d seen his training

He got lucky because God has a plan for us
