Saw another update that they've located her truck off of wire road near the pumpkin patch and person of interest is in custody.....Scary stuff for sure

She was my wife's boss and teacher at the dairy in Auburn. She got an animal science degree and miles cows while going through school.

Sounds premeditated like a crime of passion of sorts. Somebody thought doing that during game day would mean less people and police around to do the deed.

This is from a professional perspective, having served on a state committee with some Auburn officers and having a former Auburn Chief in a couple of classes I taught at Faulkner, for the size of the city, the Auburn PD is about as good and professional as they come. That doesn't mean everyone likes them, but that comes with the territory. They are professional. I had a lot of conversations with then Chief Tommy Dawson shortly after the student was killed and that was a big deal in the community and the state. It was handled well by everyone from the patrol, investigators, and administration. I have no doubt this case will be handled the same. Prayers go out to everyone involved.

Just my knee jerk reaction but I think it was someone she knew. That’s a very popular, busy, park she was killed in. Add to that it was game day with lots more activity going on. Seems like if it was a random act, the perp would have picked a day that would have been less likely for a lot of activity.

Why was he charged with two counts of murder? Two counts of Capital Murder. Keep in mind I don't know the details but there are a number of ways that can make it Capital Muder, so he's charged with each way, even though he only killed one person allegedly. It seems that he was charged after reports of, or officers saw, what was deemed a "suspicious person". Now there are those out there that will call this racial profiling but I say it was just good police work. There is a fine line between profiling and good policing.

Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

If somehow a jury did not find she was raped then they can still find him guilty of Capital Murder if they find she was robbed. It just gives the DA more leeway in a trial. Each element that meets the statute for Capital Murder will be a separate charge.
