I don't think coaching matters nearly as much as it did when you could recruit a class and coach them for 3-5 years. It's just moneyball now.

Culture issue at Bama right now. Is some of that Deboer's fault? Yes, probably. But I think it is more of an overall issue with the new landscape of college ball. It is disproportionately affecting Bama at this point. Started to see it a little bit at the tail end of last year and now it is really coming to light this season

I've learned from watching college football for all these years is that if a staff doesn't treat the players the same year around, curfews, meetings, workouts, etc. then Summers are going to be bad and that will bleed into fall and the season. This is why some of the strictest disciplinarians such as Saban or Dye have excelled and some good coaches, and Chizek comes to mind first, didn't cut it.

I saw it talked about on the dynasty podcast with trent richardson, Chris Stewart, and MCCarron. But it aint really hard to figure out. the first thing they want to do is jump on Deboer over it, and while yes he might be part of the problem, its not totally his fault. and it is not hard to figure out.
