Still haven’t seen a single poult. Same. First summer of my lifetime I haven’t seen a poult. Don’t have a single one on camera either. It poured all spring nearly every day.

I finally got a picture of one poult from this year. It’s about the size of grown game hen chicken. First and only.

Just saw 4 younger small Jake’s with two gobblers and a hen with about 6-7 teenage chicken sized poults here around muscle shoals where there are piles of predators…good news

I saw some 3/4 grown ones fly across the road in Perry county yesterday.

My first pictures were around a feeder back on 6/12 and they were about the size of quail and some smaller. 2 different broods.

We had a good hatch and have been seeing several flocks regularly. One flock we see very regularly on our evening ride arounds has been fun because we have been watching it since the poults were little fuzz balls. They have gotten quite used to us and yesterday let us get within probably 50 feet of them and never spooked. What’s interesting is the range in poult size. Most are almost as big as the hens but there are a few still quite small. Fun to watch them trying to keep up with the flock.

As late as I've ever seen a brood hatched! ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/uvdOmUW.jpeg) I have a picture from several years ago with a hen and a single 2-3 day old poult on Sept 1. Saturday, I saw a hen in Hinds Co, MS with 5 poults that were slightly bigger than those in your photo. I bet there were a lot of later hatches this year due to unsuitable conditions early on. It’s amazing how these things do what they do to survive. If y’all are doing the poult survey in MS somebody might want to record those I saw. 😁
