Does insurance usually pay for these? My A1C was 6.4 a year ago. I ain’t checked it in awhile but I eat a lot less bread. Almost none. Do carnivore off and on. Sugar free drinks only. I need to go get mine checked again. If your doctor turns in that you are pre diabetic or diabetic. Mine was 6.4. Now it’s 6.7. Well I’d say it’s having an adverse affect on ya! 🤣

I could stand to lose a few pounds but nothing crazy but am in the category of borderline which I’ve changed diet and exercise to help but bcbs won’t budge in my case unless ur doc says ur diabetic which is weird to me because if it helps keep from reaching that and helps with heart and other things then why would they deny it. Seems if ur health is their concern it would be a no brainer for them. I truly believe they want the opposite to rake in more money. Why keep u healthier when there’s more money in being sick it’s a dam shame.

I'm Type 2. Been diagnosed as such for 12 or 15 years. I take 1000mg of Metformin ER in the morning and again at night. My sugar hovers around 150 and long as I don't eat whites or sugars. Quit all alcohol over 2 years ago. My A1C is around 7 now but stayed around 5 for the first 10 years. I reckon I'll just keep on doing as I'm doing. I found out this week that I am Type 2 and she put me on Metformin 500 mg x 2 a day. Told to come back in 3 months for check.

Take the shot in the hip not the stomach…also ozempic is a pure glp1…it’s a fantastic medication in terms of cardiovascular, renal, and liver health but sometimes that glp1 is tough on people in which they can’t tolerate it. I consult your doctor to see about Switching to mounjaro if that continues after a couple of weeks etc Mounjaro is a partial glp1 though doesn’t have the indications for helping all those organ systems as above. I see better A1c and weight loss with the mounjaro typically. I thought it was the other way around. Mounjaro being a dual agonist, pure glp-1.

I took ozempic for a month or two then moved over to Mounjoro (sp?). I liked the Mounjoro better. It was for Type II. Insurance decided they weren't gonna pay for it and it was outrageously expensive. So I quit.
Seems the people wanting it to just loose weight made it difficult for those with Type II. Vanity at it's best.

For those interested in an alternative, check out Jason Fung and the Fasting Method on YouTube. You can reverse type 2 with alternate day fasting. I started MWF fasting June of this year and have gone from 203 to 175 lb. I’ve done keto, carnivore, one meal a day, and none compare to getting a 36 hr fast several times a week.
I’m in better shape than when I was in High school.

I fast Monday Wednesday and Friday. Only coffee and water on those days. Maybe a zero calorie LMNT packet if you are craving sweet or salt.
On Tuesday Thursday and weekend - eat whatever you want. You’ll do better if you keep it to Whole Foods and veggies, but we aren’t strict. My wife and I have also done a couple 2 day fasts during this time.
It’s honestly incredible. Somewhere around the 24 hr mark you switch over to burning fat because insulin is completely down and glycogen stores are expended. Most people never deplete glycogen, so they never burn fat, even when eating at a caloric deficit.

Second shot worse , knocked my _ick in the dirt, this was month ago ,will not take another one Check with your doc about Metformin. I don't understand why there are so many different meds for one condition. Metformin is dirt cheap. And, FWIW, when I was first diagnosed I had a socialist primary care doc (didn't know his beliefs until I was diagnosed T2) and he put me on daily injectable Xultophy 100/3.6 and I didn't have insurance. He provided me with samples. I learned that this shit was $1700 a month if I had to buy it, learned that he was heavily pushing any and all NEW meds for any and all conditions as well as being a backer of single payer medical care. I was just a guinea pig for him. I fired his ass, requested my medical records and found a new doc.

I’m in better shape than when I was in High school. People do not want to do this. They want the easy button. The real answer is discipline through eating right and exercise.

They do have a lawsuit against them totaling close to $2billion for alleging that the company, Novo Nordisk, failed to adequately warn users about serious potential side effects like gastroparesis (stomach paralysis), intestinal blockages, vision loss, and other gastrointestinal injuries.

I usually push it to lunch because I’m not that hungry in the morning. So often 36-42 hr. I also did keto, carnivore, OMAD, in cycles back from 2019 to pretty recent. I lost some weight and felt better. However, this is a whole new ball game. Something about the 36 hr mark seems to be a big differentiator. I’m down in pant size lower than I have ever been in my adult life. This is in 3 months. Edit- Jason Fung really spells out in simple terms why this works for weight loss and type 2 diabetes. It’s all hormonal (insulin primarily) and the calories in/out BS we have been fed for generations is keeping us sick and fat

My doc started me on Metformin last week and I was ok, for a couple of days. Now I get major nausea just about all day. I noticed if I eat a small piece of chocolate, the nausea goes away. Been feeling terrible.

I saw a buddy yesterday for the first time in years. He looked better than I’ve ever seen him. He’s on Ozempic. He said during his ‘weight loss dose’ you had to intentionally not eat even close to the volume of food you used to. If you tried to eat full meals, you’d puke and crap everywhere. He said once he lost the weight, when on the maintenance dose, that goes away. I don’t know. There have to be some side effects. In his case, he said his cardiologist told him keep taking it, because the benefits outweighed the risks.

I could do a fast like that for a day and a half. I enjoy fasting. I know it sounds weird but I’m competitive so i like to win over my body. But I also like food. 😂

I’m on mournjaro now and was on ozempic. Never puked or had many upset stomachs at all or a time to get used to it Cardiologist wants me back on ozempic sooner than later because of the heart liver and kidneys protection. I switched cause hoped I’d get better insurance coverage since my does of ozempic was hard to get regularly.
Really didn’t see much A1C movement matter of fact over the past few years had to increase. This past spring I decided to eat way better and I’ve dropped from 7.6 to 6.6 A1C. Portions have been cut too. I’m a foody but still made changes. For the most part 4 whole eggs for breakfast and simple lunch’s mostly of deer habanero cheese summer sausage or another smoked sausage. I’ve changed to much cleaner foods adding good olive oil into the mix. 1 plate for super no seconds. Dropped 15lbs and down to 185 and hopping to get to 170-175.
Trying to eliminate as much processed for as I can
A friends wife got on one of the glp1 shots and was taking almost daily. She was under a docs care and he said she was miserable having it coming out both ends. I told him I thought that was way too many doses. She finally got off it but lost weight
