Unless the law has changed drastically, it is not illegal, as Carter says, for LE to question juveniles without a parent or guardian present. The juveniles do have the right to have one there if they wish as well as having a lawyer present. In Alabama they are made aware of these rights just like Miranda. The reading of these rights is very close to Miranda but with the part about a parent being present if they wish is added.

My first thought was it was a hazing incident and the school didn’t want to publicize this and that left them wide open for the Karenfest on Facebook. To be clear though this is my first impression and I then quit reading about it because of the stupidity on the case. I’ll trust the professionals to investigate and then read about it. I just don’t believe professional people with good jobs would risk those jobs and possibly criminal charges just to keep a high school QB eligible.


I kinda thought hazing as well but where it happened is in the wide open with many folks around
