I might be (probably am) late to the game, but if you want to catch fish - any fish - just run a lil bitty 1" gulp minner on a lil bitty jighead under a slip bobber, and hold on. That's it. My yankee cousin turned me onto this when we went up to Wisconsin for a family reunion last month. I was prepping gear ahead of time and asked what has been working best and he said Man believe it or not, these silly little gulp minners outfish everything else, worms, crickets, etc. included. So now that is my go to for taking the kids to go catch something/anything. Bass, bream, crappie, catfish (yes, really) and even the turtles love them. (I hate the turtles, but the kids love catching them...)

My kiddos aren't exactly elite pro-level fishermen, but even the littlest ones can snag a few after supper most nights.

I've been using these jigheads in 1/16th oz size. White ones and chartreuse seem to both catch about equally.

I also clamp on a tiny split shot about 10"-12" up just so to make it a little easier for the kids to catch and I figure the fish feeling less resistance can't hurt anything.

They were on fire up in Wisconsin. They were hitting them as soon as the bait hit the water, no exaggeration. I was baiting hooks non stop hahaha. I have four of those identical poles for the kids but was only letting them run two at a time because I couldn't bait hooks and untangle lines fast enough with 3-4 poles out!

That is cool. Were they casting and letting it sit, or slow retrieving it?

Both. That's the crazy part. Some of the kids have a hard time letting it sit still, but they eat it just as fast with the bait just sitting there. Didn't/doesn't make sense to me either, but I'm telling you it works.

I love fishing jig under a cork. Especially for perch against cypress.
Never used gulp minnows though.

How durable are these baits? is it a one time usage or multiple?

Pretty durable, but we've been going through a bunch just bc of sheer volume. Sometimes one can bait can last 3-4-5 fish but if there's a super aggressive/jumpy fish it can be one and done.

Also we've tried the next size up - I think they're 2.5" - and they work too but the tiny ones definitely catch more fish faster.

Been using these the last two years here on the Tennessee River. Take the larger ones and cut them into thirds. I fish it either straight down or cast close to shore and slow retrieve until the current takes it. My best color is chartreuse and white. I can catch four or five with one bait, whereas I'm lucky if I can catch two bluegills with one nightcrawler.

I watch a YouTube channel called "The Old Fisherman" he's somewhere in NC and fishes a couple of big lakes. Sometimes he uses something he calls a sandworm made by Gulp. He usually tears the shell cracker and catfish up using them.
