Has ALDOT cut the Highway right of ways in anyone’s area this year? I live outside of Florence and all they have done is spray. I called the district office about a month ago to see if they are going to cut. The supervisor said they would be out our way in two weeks. They still haven’t. I guess we are going to clean it up ourselves.

Once. Needs it again, but they usually wait until growth comes to a crawl in the fall so they don't have to do it again until late spring.

Once and the crew needs fired. Hwy 72. Ran over insulation foam coolers and all kinds of crap. No corn sacks yet…….Too daum lazy to move it. So instead of moving one piece now there’s 1000’s that needs picked up. PDA ‘s. Yes need cut again.

Not in morgan county. I know of a couple farmers that were talking and have cut the side of hwy 36 for a ways on their own. 157 from sw morgan co to cullman has been cut 2x i think. But its funny you brought it up cus its been talked about a good bit here.

Cheaper to spray I’d bet

Just once on HWY 79 north. Only two tractors , missed a lot . If you call ALDOT , they'll tell you they don't have any $. rolleyes

"Why do you ask"?

Too many people spend money they don't have , on things they don't need, to impress people they don't know.

I thought it was the county that cut them. Jefferson and Shelby have been cut at least twice.

ALDOT must hire only idiots from grass cutter to engineers. If those idiots build one more damn round-about intersection I'm going to take a D-9 dozer and tear it the fk up.

On 331 in Montgomery Co today they had a spray truck going and a another truck with a light up sign that said Sprayers Ahead. Not sure how many men were paid to run that crew but it can't be much cheaper than just mowing it.

I have a friend who is a maintenance director for ALDOT. He tells me that they are spraying and only cutting once. I noticed the Sumter county district has started on theirs on highway 17 towards Geiger today

The World is going to Roundabouts because once built they are much cheaper to maintain than traffic control lights. They work great when used by intelligent drivers, which explain the whole problem in most of Alabama. In Selma, all the traffic lights a breaking down from age at the control boxes (the most expensive components) and parts to fix them are no longer available. As the head of the Traffic Division I was the designated Traffic Engineer and was asked by the then Mayor where other places were getting parts. I told him that the trend was to build Roundabouts. Everyone in the meeting, including myself got a big laugh at the idea of Selma drivers using a Roundabout.

You oughta come to downtown AlexCity if you wanna see some dumbassedry PawPaw. Those dumb bastages built a kidney bean/oval shaped roundabout a block from my office with 4 points of entry and 5 ways to exit. It’s been there for well over a decade and the locals still can’t figure it out. They’ll fly up to one of the yield signs and just sit there….. look both ways (fvkn idiot)…. then they’ll finally go. It gets real sporty when a big truck with 53ft trailer misses one of the giant NO TRUCKS signs.

I love a roundabout. Soooo much faster. But I hate when people don’t know how to use them.

Yep, I would say demonstrating how to use them should be mandatory on the DL test, but soooo many in Alabama don't bother with trivial matters like a DL.

I had to drive through that damn mess unawares onetime and about came unglued cussing and bitching about it. Whoever came up with that damn crap needs to be whipped with a truck antennae.

And they are MUCH SAFER. Many fewer conflict points than a signalized intersection. Any crashes that do occur are generally much less severe.

In east South Dakota they bale hay on the interstate ROWs and medians. Not sure if it’s the State or farmers but it all gets baled.

Too much trash in Alabama to bale it.
