Is two a day total? Or two a day per property you hunt? A couple of licenses and a couple properties would let you stack them up

I’m not sure. It’s worth researching. Might can get by with more if you kill multiple on a single shot.

We can do better. Let's peg out the chart in 2025.

Its two per day per stand location. Kill two, then move to a tree 10 yards away and you can kill two more.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

I got an email about one of the properties I hunt in the middle of last season. Club runner said if y'all don't start shooting does Ima find people to replace you. I think he actually used a couple expletives. It's little wonder why deer aren't being killed.

Most of the club is old dudes who ain't dragging anything and probably shouldn't. There're not enough younger fellas to always be around to drag for them. I've pushed the opinion that it is actually necessary to have younger fellas around for a club to function. Buck lust, aiming for exclusivity, keeping youngsters killing little deer out, is actually ruining hunting for the older set. Young bucks killing freely are necessary to keep hunting viable for everyone.

We will never run out of deer. Gone are the days of overshooting stuff like sportsmen did passenger pigeons and market hunting waterfowl. IF, and thats a big IF, we were to significantly deplete the deer numbers, their pops would quickly rebound when the "easy hunting" crowd quit trying for a few years, giving the smaller number of deer populations a chance to rebound. It would operate on a predictable cycle like a normal predator/prey population relationship timeline. Prey numbers will be up until the predator numbers overwhelm, then a sharp decline in prey numbers happens quickly followed by a sharp reduction in predator numbers. When that happens, a short time later the prey numbers will be back up, followed by an ascending numbers of predators (hunters) who get back in it....... and so on and so forth.

As far as mankind wearing out a species in the current times....we cant even purposefully crash beaver, wild swine, and coyote populations anymore for any significant amount of time. And a lot of effort goes into that every year to little avail.

Game check wasn't implemented until 2013 to get an idea of the number of deer harvested in the state. That chart goes up to 2011. How accurate you reckon that data is?

You expect people that can't do math to come up with a rational number of does to shoot?

I killed 2 last year and that's probably more than I killed in the last 5 years combined. I just don't see the need in killing a buncha does

I think its plenty accurate enough to conclude that doe harvest went WAY up the last time we went to two per day.......

I want to know what makes that data accurate based on fact and quantifiable scientific data. Show me. How were those numbers obtained and by who?

It’s easy to interpret that data anyway you want to see I can look at the chart and say that doe harvest is up and buck harvest is down because people are letting more bucks walk.

The only truth you can conclude from that is that doe harvest reports went up.

You’ll have to go down to Auburn and take you a class in random sampling if you want someone to explain to you the theory and mathematics behind it…..They’ll spend a whole semester on it……I think you just woke up this morning looking for another way to be a goob though and it wouldn’t matter what anyone wrote…..some of you will always choose not to believe it…….It seems to be one of the strategies of the deep farm folks……..It makes it easier to push completely made up narratives on folks and cause confusion.

The saddest part about all of this is that this place could be a hub of education for the public if special interest wouldn’t have run all of that in the dirt……Let me guess though…..it was the “know it all’s” that ruined it for everyone

It has nothing to do with big farm. It’s my agenda to wipe out the entire deer herd in Alabama and the restock from the Midwest so that our rut is in November and we can manage the herd after the rut. Everyone will thank me later.
