War costs life but it also prevents tyranny. Y'all are thinking macro and that's true but we don't hear of a troublemaker dying of a heart attack at lunch or some banana Republic despot catching Mr.168 in the head. I think we've become so reliant on the military industrial complex to avoid ground fighting through technology in the name of safety we've lost operational effectiveness. I struggle with my chemically addled brain to wonder why we don't have a Reagan or Roosevelt to run our country. I look back at the Berlin airlift flex and know that no terrorist or group of camel humpers could survive if Big Military started putting boots to asses for a sustained attack it could be over before it started good. Course I'm just an Internet Goober.
