Breaking news-

The FDA has issued a warning to the public against consuming certain Great Value raw frozen shrimp sold at Walmart stores, as it investigates potential contamination with Cesium-137, a radioactive isotope.
The warning specifically applies to the following Great Value brand frozen raw shrimp products with a Best by Date of 3/15/2027: 2lb bag of Frozen Raw Ez Peel Tail-On Farm-Raised White Vannamei Shrimp with lot code 8005540-1, and frozen raw shrimp with lot codes 8005538-1 and 8005539-1.
The investigation began after U.S. Customs and Border Protection detected Cesium-137 in shipping containers. While a sample from the distributor, Indonesia's BMS Foods, tested positive, the FDA states no contaminated shrimp has entered the U.S. food supply. Despite this, the FDA recommends Walmart recall all BMS Foods products shipped after the initial detection as a precaution.
Consumers who have purchased these products should dispose of them. The FDA notes that the level of Cesium-137 found is not an immediate danger, but long-term consumption could potentially increase cancer risk. Those concerned about exposure should consult a healthcare provider. The FDA has placed the Indonesian firm on import alert while the investigation continues.

Cesium-137 (¹³⁷Cs) is a radioactive isotope of cesium, primarily known for its use in medical and industrial applications, as well as its presence in the environment due to nuclear fallout. It is a byproduct of nuclear fission and has a half-life of approximately 30 years

The FDA has set a threshold for ¹³⁷Cs levels in imported food, and the levels found in the shrimp were below that threshold, but repeated low-dose exposure could still pose a cancer risk.

WTF? "The FDA has set a threshold for ¹³⁷Cs levels in imported food"...wtf do we have an "acceptable" level of radiation in our food?, and before anyone starts in about naturally occurring and omnipresent radiation, if that was this it wouldn't be mentioned at all, AND even though it was originally stated that no radiation had been detected in the shrimp, then later that the shrimp were below that threshold, the FDA still felt the need to issue a warning about it? Nah...pass on the typical kind of imported poisons Walmart absolutely LOVES to sell us.

So they ain't saying how the shipping containers got the dose of radiation from the Cesium137 or where they had been prior to loading up the shrimp and shipping across the pacific ocean. Kinda makes you wonder WTF is up.....

Thats exactly what I used for bait back in the spring. Ft morgan prolly got a buncha whiting, black drum and a redfish that are prolly glowing.

Every time I pick up some frozen bag of seafood, the first thing I look at is where it came from. Then usually I put it right back in the freezer section and walk away. It's a shame really...

Plus most foreign seafood and freshwater has a diet of pure shit.
